The inevitable finally happened
SO after 14 years, 217,000 miles and about 22 bottles the last 4-5 on a 175 shot the my stock ls finally threw in the towel. Hole five lost a piston and the head gasket. Still trapped 120 on 7 cylinders! It was long over due but this is just a testament of how strong these motors really are and the bottom end is still fine, heck even the high-mile stock valvetrain except for the cam and springs is quieter than plenty of the sub 100k motors ive heard!

im just trying to figure out how you only went through 22 bottles... when i had nitrous i went through atleast one a weekend... lol
also if it just blew up with the last 4-5 bottles on a 175 it was most likely a tuning problem, especially if you broke or burnt a piston.

She did do a wonderful job! surprised a lot of people lol. I was only guessing could of been more bottles only been sprayin for a year. And people said i was crazy for camming it at 199k lol But what i figure is it had to go lean stock fuel pump, i know the timing mark always looked good with no speckles on the porcelain. But for the money i had in the nitrous less than 400 bucks with everything it ran good without hiccup until now. I probably could have sprayed 40 more bottles the way i had it with the 150 but i had to get greedy. SO im contemplating my new motor options and i want a lq4 cheap heads and a good valvetrain and cam. Im on a very limited budget but i can wait as i now have another dd, any opinions ideas?

My stock w/ BPU 98SS car sees at least one bottle a weekend, count is 17 and will be rising as soon as its warm enough for the 335/30/17 hoosier quicktimes to stick to the cold *** missouri pavement. *(yes the tires fit)*
Actually going to a big direct port setup with dedicated, and then it'll probably be more like 2 bottles a weekend.
Maybe you said, but I didnt see what you broke? just a bearing or a rod or a piston? if a piston, then a crown or land or burnt deck or ring or what?

Did you have to "customize by hammer" to get those tires to fit? I've got a 2002 and want to go wider than the 315/35zr17 that I have now.

10 lb and well i got a little excited when i put it on lol... only had the nitrous on for a couple driving months and yea went through about a bottle a weekend until i spun a rod bearing (which had nothing to do with the nitrous.. lol). now its a turbo setup. when i had the nitrous i had no need for a remote opener because before i went driving i just opened it because it was so boring without it lol. the way you said 217k miles i just figured you had the nitrous on a lot longer.

well the pump was a stock replacement right when i bought the so it didn't have that many miles on it and it worked fine on the 150 shot all day long . And i was saying the fuel pump as a guess, as i wasn't looking at the wideband when it went i heard the motor missing when i pulled up at the ticket booth at the track
