Default what RPM are you spinning your stock bottom end nitrous ls1?

I am looking at raising my rev limiter to avoid doing a gear change. I just swapped from M6 to TH400 trans. i think the 4.10 will be just shy to where it hits the rev limited before the traps. my question is how high are you guys spinning your stock bottom end ls1 on the bottle? right now i shift it at 6,800 and have the rev limiter set at 6,900. its a heads/cam/intake 150 shot car. im thinking i'll need to hold it thru the traps at like 7,200rpm. is this too risky on stock bottom end, should I set my window switch to turn the spray off and the last 300 rpm it will cross the line on motor? what are your opinions?

Your valvetrain won't live for long at that rpm, unless you have upgraded springs and lifters.

I wouldn't spin a stock bottom end that high. It won't break but it won't live for long.
You can use a lower gear ratio, like a 3.90 or even a 3.73. A nitrous engine has enough ***** for that.

I was shifting mine at 7000 with my limiter at 7200, but I got tired of puckering on every shift so I dropped the limiter to 6800 and I shift at 6400 now.

Weenie lol.

JK man.

I am going to spin mine 6900-7000. If it blows it gives me a reason to build the 370 I want.

I may up it a little, maybe to shift at 6500 and limit to 6900. If I recall, the recommended is to shift 200-300 past peak power so there isn't a need for me to spin that high. Before I dynoed it, I think we assumed peak power was gonna come in at like 6900 but the dyno shows it comes in at like 6200 so there is no reason for me to spin to 7k.

I have it calling for the shift at 6400 though it doesn't usually make the shift till 6500. With the limiter at 6800, if I call for the shift at 6500 sometimes it'll hit the limiter before it shifts.

Limiter at 7k, shift around 65, usually spins to 68 once i react to the shift light. Sprays turns off at 68 as well.

set the rev limiter to 7,200 today. guess i'll go to the track, shift at 6,800 and if i need that extra rpm i can hold it thru the traps if i have to. i'm setting the window switch to turn off the spray at 6,800 also. so if i hold it to 7,200 at the stripe it will be on motor.

i would think about some arp rod bolts if you were going to spin it that high. The incresed cyl pressures with nitrous really stress the stock hardware, which is usually the failure in the ls1's. You can get some ARP rod bolts for less than 100 bucks and they arent that hard to change. Cheap insurance.

I have Katech rod bolts and I spun mine to 6800-7100 last night. I have to get used to how much faster the nitrous makes the rpm's rise and shift accordingly.

I may have to set my shift light around 6500-6600 so I can get the shift in time to where I want it.
