Default big cam with nitrous question

i have a 98 ls1 camaro with a Speed Inc Si6 cam

the cam is verry similar to the tsunami but it on a 111+1

235/240 .643/.609 111+1 so 15.5* of overlap

i want to run spray but im trying to find the safest method possible to do that.

goal is 550+ torque on the bottle. wil only use the bottle about 2 days out of a month if that and i want it to be reliable as the car is my daily.

im figuring on a 125 or 150 shot whould do the job and was planning on wet but ive recently heard some negatives about running wet with a cam with alot of overlap due to backfiring. ill be doing the IAT mod for timing and fueling when nitrous is armed.

im just looking for some more data and help on what would be best for the big cam i have. btw this cam made 422/387 with the same mods i have.

A wet setup will work fine, it shouldnt backfire. If you want to be safe find a different way to pull timing that can be verified. Dont cheap out when buying parts and you wont have any problems.

Lingenfelter box is a good one. You can see it being pulled on HPtuners.

OP, you will be fine on a 150 shot to meet your goals.

One piece of advice, you need to get you something to daily if you are going to throw more power on the car. Find you a $500 beater or something. Nothing is worse than not having a car at all.

haha thats my problem i dont like driving a beater. my plan is for this to be my daily and then have a racecar also. once i graduate ill probably get a 5th gen and just do intake, exhaust, and a tune and daily it but till then this is my daily. college student status haha

car is pretty damn reliable tho. very tight motor with low miles and i mainly drive highway. 90k miles and im about to rebuild the t56 and a rear end is planned this summer

i might try to get ahold of somthing as a daily.. a buddy of mine has a 5.0 5 speed foxbody hed be willing to sell pretty cheap.. maybe ill grab that and daily it.

Have you looked into one of those timing twisters? I think i'm going that route when I spray it this spring?

I use to daily my cam/nitrous car, just be conservative. Run br7efs, pull 6-8 degrees, run a window switch, keep shifts around 6500, and good 93 octane fuel.

I've used that one also but its more of a PITA to install and you won't see it in HPtuners or any other software. You can verify it the old school way though with a timing light

actually after talking to my tuner... you do realize what the IAT mod is right?? when i flip a switch it grounds out the IAT sensor with a resistor and makes the car think its 180+ outside thus the car pulls as much timing as i ask it to pull and adds as much fuel as i ask it to add if running a dry. if need be ill get a lingenfelter 2 step box

i was hoping to get some feedback from nitro daves but nobody over there ever answers emails and their line is always busy..

Nitrous outlet is very quick to reply to my emails. Not sure what the deal is there.

I vote wet kit. Nitrous outlet 78mm vehicle specific plate kit. Br7ef plugs gapped around .030. Pull 2 degrees for every 50 hp. I'm old school and don't try timing tuners or the iat mod so I vote just pull it out in the tune. Make sure you get all the safety equipment as well ie window switch, inline nitrous filter, fpsc, etc.
