Default Timing box question

Alright guys, I'm using one of those "horsepower in a box" timing boxes to retard my timing 5 degrees for my nitrous. I was wondering how I can test it to make sure its pulling 5 degrees. I know this box tricks the pcm basically to make it pull timing so if I hook up hptuners and say I'm running 28 degrees will it show 23 or will it still show 28 since its just tricking the pcm to run 23?

Depends on which box you have. The lnc 2000 shows up on hpt, the timing tuner does not.

You could always just mark the balancer and activate the nitrous with the fuel and nitrous solenoids disconnected and see if the mark moves with a timing light.
