Default Filling station question!!!!!!

OK, so I filled my first tank today after I got my station set up but am a little confused. Long story short, I got a ctsv from a friend that passed away along with it came a filling station for the system in the car. It has a zex 100 shot with a 10 lb bottle. I weighed the bottle and it was 14.2 lbs just as the bottle said. I filled it to 24.2 lbs but the pressure in the bottle was only at around 700 psi. I swear I thought the pressure should be up around 1000-1100 psi from what I remember from riding with him. Am I mistaken? The ambient temp outside when filling was around 70 degrees. Also how long does it normally take the bottle heater in the car to increase the pressure in the bottle? I left it on a couple minutes but didn't see a change in pressure. Thanks for the help!!!!!!

The bottle pressure was low because you just filled the bottle. Its bottle temperture your looking for not outside temp.

Ideal " BOTTLE " Temp should be around 85 Degrees which will put you in the desired 950 bottle pressure range. To much bottle pressure can make your motor run lean which could lean out & blow up your motor. You should install an air/fuel ratio gage to monitor your air/fuel ratio especially when your running nitrous.

Heres a Bottle Temp Nitrous Pressure Chart you can use as a guide.

AH.... That makes sense. Thanks for the link and also if I use the bottle warmer in the car, how long does it normally take to for it to make a difference in the bottle pressure if its 70 degrees outside. It seems to me, you would need to leave it on for quite sometime before it would make a difference.

It also depends on the heater, some are hotter, quicker, faster whatever you want to call it than others. Get the pressure up to 880-950 and enjoy. Do you know the car is tune correctly? What plugs are in it?

Yes the car is tuned properly. He has been running this setup for the last 5 years and not had any problems out of it. As for the plugs I can't tell you off the top of my head. He was a gm service manager for twenty years, he achieved world class status from ase in the early 90s by passing every ase test there was, plus owned a performance shop on the side. Him and his 13 yo son was starting to build a VW karmenn Ghia right before he passed but the only catch was he was making it a mid engine 7.0 liter.I now have the new ls3 plus his stroker kit etc. to build the engine, I just have to find time. How much better will the car perform at 900psi than at 650psi?

650 PSI is way to low. You should be running at least 850-900 psi before you spray your engine with Nitrous.

Low Bottle pressure will make your engine run way to rich & this is bad for the motor.

You can run one of these A/C 110 Volt / D/C 12 Volt Bottle Heaters made by Applied Racing Componets. Plugging into A/C 110 Volts will raise your bottle pressure quickly.

120 Volts A/C , 12 Volts, 13 Volts, 16 Volts DC 400 watts !!

Here ya go....

We have a number of heaters and heated bottle brackets that will add a lot of consistency to your system. At 950 it will be a whole different animal.http://www.nitrousoutlet.com/nitrous...cessories.html
