Default Nitrous questions

Car details:
- built auto
- forged internals
- 3500 stall TC (built for the nitrous)
- TPIS 90mm LS6 intake will be on it with money maker setup and standalone fuel system.
- P&P'd 706 heads
- LPE nitrous and timing controller

- What rpm activation to start at?

- Spray through the shifts? If not how soon before the shift should I shut it off?

- What spark plugs to use?

- I plan to start on a small shot (150) and eventually work up to a (300). How much nitrous should I start on the 300 shot and how soon should I bring in the rest?

Appreciate any info, Ill take any pointers your willing to throw out. This is my first car of my own Ill be spraying and just trying to do it right.

If that converter is really a 3500, you spray directly out of the gate on that. I have always sprayed thru the shifts but there are gonna be guys that will tell you to not spray thru the shifts. I haven't had issues doing it and I have been in the 9's already. As far as spark plugs, we need engine details befor recommending a plug. The more details the better.

Again, we need motor details in order to tell you how you might want to start progressing this. A stock cube LS1 can be sprayed out of the gate with a 300 and hook but to hit a 418 out of the gate with a 300 might be an issue of looking at the sky!

Give us a run down of the car's drivetrain so we can tell you what you need.

Stock cubes, eagle crank and rods, Manley flat tops, total engine airflow 706 58cc chamber heads, LG G6x3 cam, TPIS 90mm LS6 intake (ported), TPIS 90mm TB, PTC 3500 stall.

That's most of the details

Aftermarket rear I assume? Because you ain't doing 300 on a 10 bolt 7.5 rear.

^C5 vette with a built Z06 3rib by DTE along with there diff/trans brace no worries there. The rings are gapped for a 400 shot on the motor also.

I cut my nitrous off 50 rpm from my shift points. Start at 100 as the nitrous might change your existing shift points on spray.

It depends on what your trying to accomplish... Bracket car,et, both with a longer lasting trans?

Once you get that hammered down well try a run spraying through and see if it improves your times. Is the gain worth it to you?

Didn't know it was a vette. I have seen guys come out on 150 and progress the rest. How fast can you bring it in will be the question. Track conditions and the suspension of the car will tell you that.

I would suggest a b9efs plug to start and then work back and see if you can go to a hotter plug.

I would progress about 2 seconds in there to start. I usually start out at 10% and progress to 100%, but then again I'm on a 6 spd. I'm just a little concerned about a 4L60E surviving for long on 300hp. If yours does, please send a note who built it. : )

Performabilt has been there done that going into the 9's with a 4l60e in a vette. The lighter weight of a vette helps it live.

A 2 second progression is a waste of nitrous. The faster you bring it all in the better your et will be. I dont see you having to progress from as little as 10%. I would start out at 100 and progress the other 200 to try and be all in by the 60ft.

Cars been sprayed a 175 shot spraying dirty on a button and gone 1.43 60's and 6.4's @ 109mph in the 1/8th with the last owner, pulls driver front about 12 inches. Wasn't too fond of the old nitrous setup (it was bit and pieced together). I just tore out everything and started fresh with all new parts and am upgrading to the 90mm intake/TB setup. Cars a pooch on motor right now, traps 120+mph but 60's like crap (high 1.7's) because of the convertor and cam in the car, so it needs the spray outa the hole. Just trying to do my homework and get others opinions and experiences. Im not new to power or drag racing but definitely new to owning a LS powered car. Thanks for the suggestions so far guys.

I have found the most benefit is that fraction of a second that the rear end is initially hit with power that you really need the progressive. IE, a few tenths a second off the launch.

If it hooked on that 175 that is where you need to start and progress the rest and see how it does. The more you can bring in on the initial hit, the better the et will be. You might be able to step it up to 2 out of the hole and progress the last 100 to ride out the wheelie.
