Default What fuel in my stand alone for a 200-250 shot?

I have a LQ4 with a Vic Jr. and a 4150 nitrous plate kit with a stand alone for the nitrous. Out here in Arizona the highest octane pump gas they have is 91 octane. So thats what I will be putting in my stock fuel tank to drive around on. My question is, what fuel should I put in my stand alone to spray a 200-250 shot?

Is it a sbe motor? If u spray 250 I would put good fuel in both tanks but that's just me. I run c16 but that's more of a question to ask the guy tuning ur car

Yeah its a SBE LQ4 with 799 heads. I was thinking C16 as well in the stand alone. I know the 91 octane in the stock tank will dilute the C16 down but not sure if it will still be enough to spray a 250 shot with it diluted down. I know the guy I got the nitrous kit from ran 112 in the stock tank and 112 in the stand alone and ran 8.90's with his LS1. But it was primarily a track car and I want to drive mine on the street without having to fill my stock tank with 112.

It depends on how much timing you are pulling, higher octane means less timing pulled...do you have a timing box... or?

I have tried most of the options over the years and have found that a methanol injection setup feeding the fuel side of the nitrous is the optimal setup. Its approx 116 octane and you could probably run full timing but I still pull a bit just to be conservative. Google to check out other folks experiences.

My equipment has always been NX, can't beat their product and warranty.

I'm getting a tune next week, but I do have a timing tuner from full throttle. I haven't sprayed the car, or driven it for that matter. Just finished the swap. I just picked up a couple gallons of C16 for the stand alone. If I can get away with spraying a 250 shot then awesome, if not I'll just go with a 200 shot and call it a day till I get a cage and keep it primarily at the track, then it will get C16 in both tanks.

From what I hear there are a couple places that do have 110 octane on pump. I dont mind getting a gallon here and there for my stand alone, but I def dont want to pay $9+ per gallon on fuel to put in my stock tank, that thing holds a lot lol. Plus I live really far from those places that have 110 on pump. I got some C16 for my stand alone. Its expensive but my stand alone doesnt even hold a full gallon. Plus I'm hoping with it being such high octane that when it mixes with the 91 it will still be around 110 or so.

No matter what you use the tune will be different if you have half and half or one day you have straight race gas. Just be consistent with the fuel so your not chasing your tail.

I know one of the guys in house, sprays 150-200, and he was able to put all of his timing back in when he switched from pump gas to race fuel.. You will just have to do some testing on the car, start conservative! Good luck, and let me know if you have anymore questions!

I have tuned 93 octane pump and c16 in the standalone on a 450 shot with no issues. I just pulled timing accordingly.

thats one of the main attractions for me to run my standalone only needing to fill 1.5 gals of c16 every time it needs it instead of 20 something gallons that the regular tank holds.

Yeah that's the main reason I got mine, and to stop taking my fuel off the rail so my pump could keep up. I don't think my stand alone is a full gallon lol.

That's what Im wanting to do. But I can't race my car with nitrous at the track till I get a cage and the safety equipment. So it will be on the street when it does come out, so a number 9 plug might be a bit much for it driving around on motor.

It will be fine on the #9 plug. Just make sure the motor tune is on the #9 plug and not something else.

Ok good to know I'll make sure 9's are in it when it gets tuned. I dropped it off monday to get everything wired in together and it should get tuned early next week. I really appreciate the help guys!
