Default Timing box wiring question

I have my Mallory 685 box wired up except for the violet wire(RPM switch output) iv read that it wires into the ground wire of the nitrous solenoids (green wire on the relay). im alittle confused on how to do that. do i cut the wire, add the new one and connect them back or wire it when the wire goes into the relay? also does it matter which side the wire goes to after the butt connector has been added. meaning on the left of the butt connector(wired with the solenoid wire) or on the right of the butt connector(wired with the relay wire)
heres a link i did where you can see the wires.

The purple wire will take place of the ground on your relay. if you put it in a butt connector it will not matter which side of the but connector it is in, because at that point it is all one wire.

This is a diagram of the most common 40/60 Amp relay and the one that we send with our nitrous systems.

You will want to take the pin 30 to the battery.

Take pin 87 to the positive side of your solenoids

Take pin 86 to you activation switch

and put the violet wire form your Mallory 685 to pin #85. It will supply the ground to the relay when the desired RPM window is achieved.

IF you have a pin 87a you do not need to do anything to it, you may not even have that pin on your relay which is fine.

thanks. i had yall nos kit wired up correctly and both solenoids firing correctly. just wasnt sure how to add the wire from the box. so just using a butt connector is fine? i saw a post saying add it to pin 85(the green wire on relay) but wasnt sure exactly what he meant. i will tie it in and hope it works. thanks sir

Yes a butt connector will work, I would however highly recommend soldering the wires together and heat shrinking around the connection to prevent any future problems.
