major dumbass move
I havent been around for a couple years I think....cant remember how long its been.
My car is or was until last friday alive and kicking with 230xxx mies and counting.
I finally got around to taking my car back to TICK and having the guru or wiring 'jonathan" finish up my nitrous so i can finally use it.
anways we put it on the dyno and pulled a best of 520hp 560tq with a 150 shot
well the other day I felt like playing around with it and POW!!!!
I heated the bottle and forgot to turn it off so it heated WAY!!!! past good...like pegged the neeedle. So i purged and I havent seen that much purge come out. I never should have WOT it but i did like a dumbass!!!! I was going about 55 and was in 4th and when i did...POW!!!!!!!!!!! the freaking hood split in 2 and the top half when flying behind me and landed on the interstate and the car cut off. I had to get a tow home
hood is no good, Air lid is destroyed....MAF is ruin. I think it busted a hole on the intake right behind the TB
the car wont crank. what could my problem?
I removed the MAF cause its toast.
Ive had it cranked and the internal motor sounds fine ( im pretty sure it didnt go past the TB) but was back firing maybe cause i had the MAF off.
Now when i attempt to fire it up ....it spins over and fires for a split second and shuts off.
is there like a fuel shut off? cause when it does fire and i give it gas , it seems like its not getting any.
what can i check?
if i cant figure it out, I will tow the car to TICK

if the pressure was that high the nitrous solenoid may not have opened, causing fuel only and the backfire. Or you could have had a lean condition if the nitrous solenoid did open. If the intake has a whole in it you are going to have a hell of a time trying to start it. I would start with a compression and leak down test.

alls I said was "holy SHIIT!!" and coasted to a stop off the side of the road as I watched my hood fluttering in the air behind me. Luckly only 2 cars behind on a 3 lane load so they split me and went on by. LOL!
Im using a spare MAF I had laying around.
as far as the hole, I took a picture of the hole behind the TB
I dont remember if thats normal, Im thinking not.

This is the route I would take. Also, be careful spraying the car in 4th at 55. (Or really, under 3,000 rpms. Its really hard on the motor.)
That is definitely a backfire judging by your description and the pics, and I bet it was caused from a lower rpm pull spraying a bunch of fuel and no nitrous, like he said..

IF you get it back together...have them add a pressure switch for the heater to cut it off.
You are VERY LUCKY and should have bought a lottery ticket
Hope it's not too bad.....but we learn from our mistakes (and others mistakes).

all the more reason to upgrade to a FAST intake. I guess. haha
nah! its in no way TICKs fault. all he did was was finish up my wiring and made it look WAY!! better than I had it wired. Got it all wired the way it was suppose to be.
I do have a pressure switch on my heater but its gone bad and wouldnt heat at all so i straight wired it to stay on until i turn it off. totally my fault.
Im more mad about ruining my hood more that anything. That bitch fit perfect! now I gotta get a new one.

LMAO!!!
If you're running a 26" tire, you sprayed a 150 shot around 2600rpm. (Estimated 55mph, 3.73 GR, 26" tire)
Do you not have a window switch? What did you purge the bottle pressure down to?
I would pull the plugs as well and see what they look like. That intake is toast. I would do a little more investigating before I tried starting it. Pull that intake, check the injectors out, pull the valve covers, rotate it by hand, make sure nothing else is damaged.
I'm sure you'll get it figured out.
