Default Long term nitrous cost vs FI cost

Hello all,

I hope this is the appropriate place to post this thread, if not.....I'm soowwiiii.

In the past, I have read that initially, nitrous is cheaper, but expensive in the long run due to the cost of having to refill the bottle compare to having a blower or turbo. My question is, would force induction still cost more in the long run due to cost of having to rebuild the turbo(s) or blower and also having to replace accessories such as blow off valves, wastegates, blower belts and etc?

It will take a long time for a nitrous combo to equal the cost of a boost combo given the combo are on the same level. You can't compare costs of a Induction Solution 3 stage fogger kit to a On3 turbo kit. But compare a $800-$900 nitrous plate kit to a decent turbo kit, it will take a lot of bottles refills to equal the cost of a $6000-$7500 boost combo.

I think in the long run (could be shorter if you're spraying ALOT), it's cheaper to go forced induction. I would've went that route if I was to do it all over again. In addition to FI, the power is always there. BUT, nitrous will stay on my ride unless I sell it, gets totaled, stolen, etc and get another toy.

My n2o kit was only probably $1200 or so and I have a ton of safety accessories. Hard to go FI for even 4x that cost

^I don't think the OP was just talking about the initial cost of nitrous. The bottle fills will add up quick if you spray a lot. Ex: $60 to fill here in StL. I know guys that fill their bottles once or twice a week (I use to). Add that up for a yr and that's in the thousands for only one yr.

Thank you all for the info.

I would always presume that FI will still cost a lot in the long run simply due to maintanance cost, especially on turbo(s) or supercharger rebuilds.

Where do you get yours filled in STL? Sounds expensive!! Have 4 bottles to fill. Either way OP it's a wash. It all gets expensive!

FWIW, I have had them all, and currently have a supercharged, and nitrous car. The nitrous car is more fun. You will have so fill ALOT of bottles to tickle the cost of a supercharged car.

It used to be Lowe Performance in Alton, but was told that they stopped selling nitrous. So, either PUR Performance or Craven.

in two month of nitrous on my z06 i spend about 1500 on fills....that being said, i still prefer nitrous because id rather spend 50$ here and there to fill my bottles rather than 4500 up front for a procharger/turbo set up.

That's 30 bottles or ~150-160 1/4 mi. passes. You race that much or street play/purge queen

I know guys that have spent more on ice than nitrous. And then you have the guys that use nitrous with there turbos. Lmao. But it all depends on what you are doing, how serious you are, and how fast you wanna go. Pick your poison they are both expensive.

i would tear through a couple bottles a weekend, once you spray a car it gets boring on motor lol....You know you have a problem when you spray on someone just to prove a point.
