Default A bottle says what?

I wanted to do a test run before hitting the track tomorrow. So I threw in my "other" bottle. Its half empty and has been sitting on the bench for probably 2 months. Should be more than enough for a test so I hit the road.

I go 2nd gear wot and feel the fuel sol hit, but no nitrous. I stay in it and at about 5k I feel a gradual hit coming on. So is redline so I shut down saying WTF.

I setup again and hit 2nd gear wot. Same thing, but this time the nitrous comes on slowly at about 4k and by 5k I'm getting a full hit.

I repeat a few times and it gets a little better each time until I'm finally getting a good hit right off the bat.

I'm thinking the solenoid isn't opening very well and its time for a replacement or a rebuild. I get back to the garage and start gathering parts when I look at the tank gauge. 1300 psi. And that's after a half dozen shots.

I make sure the tank is closed and bleed the line. I open the tank and now its reading 1000 psi.

I've never seen one of my bottles do that before. Is that common for a half tank? The weather has been warm by the way.

How warm? You may have answered your own question.

It may have hit 100 in the garage.

So you didn't pre-heat it in any way?

Pressure can still get high from hot weather, even on a 1/2 bottle. I hope it's has a blow off valve on it!

Need more info:
What size jets are you're testing with?
You have a window switch?

Feeling "sluggish" usually comes from a rich tuneup, bad grounds and/or faulty solenoid like you stated earlier.

With normal pressure its working fine today.

I would have thought a half bottle was less susceptible to the heat.

Live and learn.

Too high of bottle pressure (1300 like you've posted) can cause the solenoid (depending on the mfg) NOT to open as well.

That is not correct.
If you look at a nitrous oxide vapor pressure vs temperature chart,
you will see that pressure is dependent on temperature only.
The results are not dependent on how full the bottle is.

Now, if you are wanting to increase bottle pressure....it will take
less time to increase the temp/press of a bottle that is half full.

Depending on the solenoid, it may not be able to open at 1300 psi. Most solenoids are designed to operate efficiently around ~1000 psi.

That's my guess.

Thanks,
Garrett

Now I'm curious, is that a failsafe to prevent over lean conditions?
