Default Will a 250 shot be INEFFICIENT on my set up....?

I know it will make it a little beast.....but how much am I wasting by having my old style LS1 top end parts....?

I still have ported "old ***" LS1 heads that only flow 304cfm@.650.....stock ported TB....and ported LS6 intake.

Iron LQ9 390ci at 10.8:1 cr
other info in sig.................................

I'm thinking dual stage 300. (100/200)

Or maybe a 250 shot.

Either way......am I choking the hell out of it...in a bad way...?
Or will it be just fine and make sick power....

I'm just wondering if I really have to spend another $3,500 on an LS3 top end for better airflow....(heads, TB, intake, etc)

No.

We have flowed 200-300hp worth of nitrous through stock unported "LS1" heads on 2 different cars I know of personally. (One stock cam and one nitrous cam car. Lower dynamic compression would allow you to cram more nitrous in too, but I don't really think you are going to be restricted with the setup you have now.)

I wouldn't be too concerned about it.

Thanks,
Garrett

Thanks Garrett,
What type of system do you recommend....?

Say a 300 dual stage (100/200).

I'd like to be able to (on the fly) choose to just spray 100......or both if needed.

I would run a direct port on 200hp, and a nozzle/plate system for the smaller stage.

Thanks,
Garrett

Yeah thats what alot of people prefer to do. Alot cheaper that way also than running race fuel in the tank.

Thanks,
Garrett

Personally I would do the ls3 top end if it's in the budget. To be honest though u can jam 300 worth of nitrous threw those heads no problem. The only part u need to be concerned about is getting the extra heat and pressure out of the cylinder that size shot will create. This is were a really good cam guy comes into play.

On just pump gas alone I wouldn't attempt to try.

Well....I would like to do both....the LS3 top end along with the dual stage. But now I am looking at more than doubling the cost. Upwards of $7,000.

For $8,000 I can just do the Huron Speed T4 single turbo kit with A/C. Make 900 RWHP.

But I really just decided to spend $3,500-$4,000 on modding. Spray seems like the cheapest route to a lot of HP.

A nitrous spec'd cam would definitely be beneficial for this much nitrous. Martin @ Tick is who I would go with if you haven't already lined something out OP. We have crammed 250+hp in factory 5.3 with a nitrous cam. Works well.

Once u start adding up all the nitrous u use its no cheapier than turbos. Especially when u start spraying 250 +

Yup. A good plate kit is going to be $800. Then you need a mount, bottle warmer, window switch, gauge, switch panel. Thats the basics. Then you really need a stand alone and a controller.

How much does it cost to fill a 10 lb bottle........?

How many FULL STRENGTH 250 shots can a 10 lb bottle deliver....?

A bottle fill normally runs around ~45$ to fill depending on the area. You will consume 8/10lb every 10 seconds per 100hp of nitrous. You will get about 7-8 good useable lb's out of a 10lb bottle before it needs to be refilled, and then at that point you are only buying ~7lbs of nitrous instead of a full 10.

No. Almost 1 pound of nitrous per 100hp every 10 seconds. (.8lb)
