Default Nitrous tuning experts please come in...

Setup:
346cid LS1
TEA S2 5.3 truck heads 12.25:1
Comp Cams 232/238 XER
TNT F1 kit with 150 fuel and nitrous jets
All Bolt ons
Fuel System:
Racetronix fuel pump
Kenne Bell BAP
97 Fuel rail with return line

My car has been tuned to run all motor and runs very good. We installed the TNT F1 kit last year on the old setup and worked great. This year it seems like the were having alot of problems with the kit. My first two track days ended in good ETs but the tuning was way off. The car was tuned to run motor 30 degrees of timing, 13.0:1 A/F. With only the addition of the TNT F1 150/150 the air to fuel goes to 14.9-16.0:1 while retarding the timing to 26 degrees. Why would the fuel mixture go lean? Shouldn't the TNT wet system add fuel so it richens up? I am using a Innovate Motorsport WB to log the air to fuel.

What causes surging?

What is your bottle pressure? Was it a full bottle? Anything past 1-2 sprays ona 10lb bottle will usually result in surging. Also when i run my Impala I spray only when my bottle is at 1100 psi.

what was your setup last year? no heads/cam etc... or is it the same and u just added a 150 shot... sounds like you dont have enough pump or fuel line diameter to supply a H/C Combo and the TNT 150 Shot it sounds like.

Cartek Told me that they went direct port w/ dedicated fuel system cause the 150 wet shot was running lean with intake pump and inline... so that is why I have a dedicated setup...

either dedicated fuel system... or bigger lines and pump to your fuel rails

Totally agree there. You may want to try running a -8 line from your sending unit to aftermarket fuel rails.

I also talked to Brian Tooley from TEA and our fuel systems are basically the same, I have a BAP which should increase how much rwhp my system can handle.... He made 696 at the wheels on his 346....is there anything else that could cause this?

On a side note, I just looked at the jets to make sure I installed the 150s and the 150s and I found some Trash in my 100 Fuel jets. My 75s and 100s were in the same bag.....kinda weird how there was trash in only the 100s. I had to blow them out reverse with the compressor to get the trash out....don't know what it was either....

fuel pressure should be 58psi on TNT kits that come off the rail...

Direct Ports with dedicated Fuel systems are from 6-12psi FLOWING depending on the brand... my NOS Pro Race Fogger Setup is 6psi Flowing...

I just called TNT and they gave me a few things to check....
1) Check the Nozzles - they are fine
2) Check the Fuel solenoid - it's opening and closing normally/no trash

For the last check, I hooked up the fuel system to the fuel solenoid and started the car. The fuel solenoid dumped into a glass mason jar. I hotwired the fuel solenoid so I could fire it at the fender. Fired the solenoid and one side came out strong and one side came out soft. Looked at the solenoid and the line coming out of the solenoid was loose and fuel was spraying everywhere. The fuel line going to the passenger side 1/2 way on and spraying fuel everywhere. I guess problem is solved....

If that was the problem great. But didnt you smell the raw fuel? And did both nozzle look the same after tightening up that fitting.

I smelled it but and I looked but couldn't find anything. I guess with the high temps it either evaporated or something.... The problem was the fitting coming out of the solenoids not going into the nozzles. The Nozzles were all tight and 3 of the 4 solenoids were tight. It must have been loose because those lines were done a couple of months ago when we were working on the manifold. Since the car is mostly a motor car I never saw nitrous enough to look at any installation problems.
