Default Blow off valve in the intake.

i was working on a caddy with a northstar the other day and when i pulled off the intake, i noticed a blow off valve in the back of it. this was the coolest thing. it was about 2 inches round and had a little spring to keep it closed. i am sure it would not like a blower very much but it would be a perfect safty devise for a nitrous motor. i have seen several carburator intakes with them, but i was wondering if anyone has tried to do this to a plastic ls6 intake. i would think the EGR section would be perfect.

first off, im a complete newbie to n2o, so dont laugh too hard at my questions
would the purpose of the BOV, be mainly to keep the intake system from blowing up only from releasing the pressure?
and would this only be helpful, in say, a nitrous backfire?

i plan on building a n2o setup later in the year, and i want it to be as safe as possible

Sounds like a idle air control valve. But if you could put a big enought pop off valve on the intake after the TB, then if you ever had a N20 back fire it could possibly release enought preasure to not mess up as much.

yes, the only advantage is so you will not blow up the intake if you get a nitrous back fire. besides that, i does nothing.

this is defenetly a BOV. there are no wires to it and is not controled by anything. just a spring that keeps it closed. besides the IAC in on the TB in northstars.
