Default H/C with NX 150 shot, gear problem???

Well, Im about to put a 12 bolt under my car and it has 4.10's in it.. have a H/C 98 WS6 with a NX kit that I am going to spray 150 through..I'm thinking Im going to have issues running that high of gear..If I switch to a 28" Et street will I be able to do it? Or should I just not get the 12 bolt til I break the 10 bolt and get a setup with 3.73's..Car is an A4, Vig 3200...PLEASE HELP!!!

What size and type of tire are you running now? A 150 shot will hit the tires pretty hard, I'm not sure an ET Street will handle it. Is this for 1/4 mile or 1/8th?

An ET Street should get you some good tractionon a 150 shot but the 10 bolt won't last long. If you are changing tires at the track and get the 12 bolt with 28" tall tires say MT ET Drags with the 4:10 gears shifting at 6800 RPM you will be speed limited to about 150 MPH in the 1/4. Same tire size, same shift point with 3:73 gears you will be speed limited to about 156 MPH.

Go with the 12 bolt and at least 4.10's. Don't waste your money on ET Streets. Go with the ET Drags, Hoosier, or Goodyear. All are about the same. Would need to know M6, A4 or A3 tranny? The 28x9 ET Drags would be a good set up. A little bigger than 26" and smaller than say 28x10.5. Have you bought the rear-end? Wheels? If you are starting from scratch, rear a couple of the trends in the Drag Racing Tech section on tires, gears, back-spacing trends. They are very informational.

Good Luck

car has the A4 in it..I dont have the 12 bolt yet, but its a good deal and would like to pick it up..I was really concerned with running out of gear on teh top end on the nitrous..the welds are on the car already, I have a 15X10 prostar currently but I was looking at a 275/50 DR or 28" et drags for the track..I was thinking the car would trap somewhere in the 130's on the spray..I wouldnt think 6800 on the bottle would be too bad of a shift point..

Knowing that (A4, etc), go with the 4.10's and 28x9. Should be fine. Shouldn't really need to cut anything, maybe the BMFH mod Do you think your A4 will last? What converter are you running?

I did the H/C 150 shot in an A4 and 4.10's......4.10's are too much gear even with me running 28" slicks.

I run 4.10 gear and im doing a gear change. At 150 shot your going to max out on gear. Times in my sig is lifting right at the end because i was just out of gear.

If I can run a 200 shot on a heads/cam car (410rwph on engine only) and NOT run out of gear on 30" how come you guys are? I was running 28x10.5 ET Drags on a 150 shot and it was almost perfect. Shift at 6800, end 1/4 at 6800 ????? Even with an A4, isn't 3rd gear 1:1 - just like mine? Possible 1st and 2nd are different (I'm an ex-M6 guy) than my A3, but not 3rd. Right? I'm running a purpose built 4200 converter. Would that matter?

I don't understand why 28" and 4.10 will not work.

Everybodys nitrous kits vs motor setup is going to act diffrent on the bottle. So what im trying to say is some people will make more power than others with a 150 shot. That would be the reason why some people don't need as much gear.More torque less gear.

the first & 2nd gear ratio are totally different in a 4L60E vs a TH400

3.06 vs 2.48 first gear is a BIG difference

I think a major part of the equation is missing to answer the question. How fast are you currently running (mph)?
