Default convince me...nitrous VS FI

i'm going to be building a forged 408 here hopefully...thing is, is that i won't have enough money to do the engine and a forced induction setup at the same time...it may be a year away...i don't want to change things around and i want good power in the mean time...thing is i don't like how you have to fill nitrous up and it's not an "all the time" power adder...what would be the best bet for me...i am a college student and i don't have tons of money...should i get a 408 w/AFR's and a custom futral cam...(11.1) compression (maybe top it off with a 200 shot) (will an eagle forged 408 handle that?)...or should i get the same thing but with a blower cam and a lower compression (8.5) so i can run boost...maybe a d-1sc or something?

Here is how I feel.
I have several freinds here in town that run FI.We have installed lots of FI set ups.And my Tunner MOE is FI.
As long as your running a conservative amount of boost its not that big of a deal.
The buddies of mine that are pushing as much as they can through the set up are always replacing belts or working on it.You will make more torque with the nitrous. Also you are not putting boost on the motor all the time.
I feel that there is nothing cooler than a supercharged car.But for the money you can build a faster nitrous car cheaper and not have the everyday cost of a super charger. The power is there when you need it.
If I was not going to use nitrous I would go turbo instead of super charged. But ofcourse I would still have a shot on it to.LOL

i have a question how often would a 200 shot last (track passes) before i would have to fill the bottle(s) i would like it mounted in my spare tire compartment if it is possible...i'd like you to give me the best setup and pricing that you could think of...i would like a low 10 high 9 second car....

engine will be
Eagle 408 ci :
-NEW GM 6.0l block
-Eagle 4.00" 4340 crank
-Eagle 6.125" H-beam rods
-Diamond pistons w\rings(flat or dish)
-Federal Mogul bearings
-ARP main studs
-balanced\blueprinted\assembled

unless you think i will need this
Callies 408 ci:
-NEW GM 6.0l block
-Callies 4.00" 4340 crank
-Manley 6.125" billet rods
-Diamond pistons w\rings(flat or dish)
-Federal Mogul bearings
-ARP main studs
-balanced\blueprinted\assembled

cam will be something like this
246\253-113

and i will be using the AFR 225's w/11.1 compression ratio

I been there done that, had a twin turbo setup and a Spray set up. the FI was GREAT on the street, but racing it want so good. it realy depends on what kit you get, who sets it up, what method you use to tune it. bla bla bla. N2O is a tad easier, its fun on the street you only use it if you have to, easy to tune with, and it make good power for shorter money.
id say a 10 pound bottle and a 200 shot, 3 passes no problem.
hope this helps some, and FWIW, im very happy with my swap to the spray. however, would i go back to turbo, probably with the right setup.

I'm a college kid, I just got my 02 WS6

sure i'd LOVE to have a supercharger or even a turbo on my car...seems more "muscle car" like than nitrous, but I'm in a money pinch like you.

I'm going to go with nitrous, I'm young, I have lots of time to supercharge my car or another one down the road.

The way I have it figured, nitrous is not actually very cheap. This is what it costs me to run down the track. I spend $40 for 10 lbs of nitrous, and I throw in $40 worth of race gas at the track. Shooting a 175 shot last time out, I only got 2 full passes, my third pass I was out of nitrous half way down the track. So I have it figured to $40 for a good pass in my truck. If I made 100 passes @ $40, that's a turbo setup ($4000). If you had a turbo (or blower), the power would be there every time you needed it, not just when you have your bottle filled.

Even though I feel this way, I will continue to use nitrous as I already have it and it is MUCH cheaper for the INITIAL investment, but costs more in the long run IMO.

That is strang! i run 75 more shot then you, and i use between 3-4 pounds per pass. depending what my bottle psi is and how much i have to purge. I would think with a 175 you should get 3 passes. oh well.

yhea, but i would think a 175 shot is a 175 shot. a jet say 30 jet will only flow xxx pounds per second or whatever. but who knows.
