Does a 10lb bottle actually get 10lbs of nitrous?
I was getting my bottle filled the other day and it was bone dry, i purged it empty like I always do before filling it up if it wasnt already empty. Well the guy put it on the scale and I am standing on the other side of the shop and I was curious how the refill worked so I crept up and watched and noticed the bottle read 19lbs empty? So the actual bottle empty weighs 19lbs......the guy fills it up full to 24.5lbs, even turned it upside down to get more in it. Thats 5.5lbs, and at 3 bux a lb that is 16.50, I have been getting charged for 10lbs. Now I am not a jerk and to be honest I have no prob paying the 30 and I even tried to pay the 30 after they saw that I knew only 5.5lbs filled it up but they wouldnt let me. So why is it the 10lb bottle is advertised as 10lbs if 5 or 6 lbs fill it up? I could care less about the price, I will still pay 30, i pay for getting nitrous, not for the amount of pounds someone puts in there. Im just curious as to why you dont actually get 10lbs out of the damn bottle. Someone fill me in!

the bottle will hold 10 lbs n2o. i'm well over 300 lbs off filling my own personal bottles. now, when you crept up, where they already in the process of filling it up? when the plac i use fills my bottle, it weighs in at 15.4 lbs. the .4 is the weight of the line being attached to the bottle. once done, it's at 25.4 lbs.

There are different 10lb cylinders used today. An NX bottle is 14.5 lbs empty. Full should be 24.5lbs. Now a bottle being empty is open the valve until no more nitrous comes out at all. Just purging will remove most of it, but man you would have to hold the button down awhile. I bit that the buy already opened both bottle and nitrous started to transfer fill before he was able to turn the pump on. You can get quite a bit of nitrous into a small bottle from the mother bottle without ever turning the pump on. NExt time just weigh your bottle before and after filling on his scale that will tell you how much you got.

the 19 lbs could come from blow down tube, gauges, remote opener, or his lines hooked to your bottle on the scale, usually they put around 11.5 lbs in my bottle, for a total weight of about 25-26 lbs. You do have to watch some of the fillers cause they might try to short you. How many passes do you normally get out of a bottle. Was is the same this time?

i get an average of 8 passess from a bottle, i will definitely weigh it next time though. Other than a manual opener there was nothing attached onto the bottle so there was no extra weight, i will use it up and weigh it then have em fill it and weigh again, thanks!

the bottle should weigh about 15lbs empty(give or take .5lb). the 19lbs you saw was the bottle half full because he was trans filling it. trans filling is when you hook your small tank to his big tank and he turns the flow on between the two tanks before he turns on the pump and generally your small tank will almost always fill halfway then he turns on the pump to fill the other half of the tank.

No. the bottle was weighed before anything was ever freakin attached to it, nothing. He simply sat it right on the scale and it read 19lbs. There was no trans filling going on, and i am 100% positive it was empty.
