I have the BMN switch and absolutely love it. You do not need pills as the rpm's are adjusted electronically. First gear lockout is designed to prevent the Nitrous from activating in 1st gear on a manual tranny. It does this by not activating the Nitrous system until after you've reached the upper (turn off) rpm limit that you set on your window switch. So, for example, if you go WOT in first and shift into second after your rpm's exceed the window switch’s upper rpm limit, the nitrous will spray in second and subsequent gears.....The only problem with the lockout feature is if you 'short shift' first as you will not spray in second or any subsequent gear until you exceed that upper rpm limit before shifting..

The shift light output is designed to trigger an aftermarket shift light (or a relay) at the upper rpm limit you set on the BMN.....I believe it can handle a max of .6 amps.

Good chioce. I'll add that wiring it up is idiot proof as there are LED's that, when you test the unit, will indicate whether or not its wired correctly....
