Default Nitrous 100 SHOT & My Yank SS4000 (Help Needed)

I am getting an NX WEt Kit and will be spraying 100 shot on my 2001 A4 Coupe. I have a 4,000 stall Torque Converter (Yank SS4000).

I will have a WOT Switch (under my Gas Pedal) and I will also have a Window Switch. I ordered a MSD Digital, but now might switch to a BMN, which has a 1st gear lockout feature which is good for me because with my 4,000 Stall, I would immediately be at a high enough RPM the second I floored it and the nitorus would turn on right away while I am in 1st gear. I would just spin or break something.

I also don't want to spray through the shifts on my stock tranny and will likley use the 1st gear lockout feature on that Window Switch from BMN.

I included information on my shift points and shift extentions that I gathered today from a few in car test runs.

Here is my question:

What RPM's do I set my Window Switch for the Nitrous to Turn "ON" and "OFF"?

**My Car Shifts at 6,500 RPM's at WOT.

**5,200 (Shift Extentions) ie. drops from 6,500 to 5,200 between shifts

Not much RPM Room to throw the Nitrous on????

Can someone Tell me what I can/should do??????????????????

Thanks

The Bandit.....................

To SUM IT UP

Is is it OK to spray at the RPM RANGE that your car drops to immediately after a shift in an automatic? ie. your "Shift Extention", or should you do it higher than that RPM Range?

My RPM's are 5,200 after my 6,500 Shift. Is it OK to set it at 5,200 or should I do it higher,,,say 5,300?

If you set it to spray at 5300 rpm then it will only spray from 5300 to 6400 in all gears.

Most people set it to come on at around 3k rpm. Since we have Auto's and the WOT switch will always be activated even between shifts it seems to me that once the rpms fall during the shift, the N20 WILL reactivate. Not so good for the tranny.

I wonder if a TPS switch instead of the WOT switch will sense that the car is no longer at full throttle during the shift and will cut the N20 until the shift is over and full throttle is resumed.

Am I making any sense?

the constant on off of the nitorus will be harder on the tranny than spraying through the shifts... It doesnt make any sense to turn it on and of that many times in one run. its not going to give you the desired results either. Just use the first ger lockout and spray till the end of the track until you let off... it will be easier on the drivetrain..

Thanks guys. OK, so how about a suggestion (after I use the 1st gear Lockout) for the ON & OFF RPM's for MY window switch?????????

Is my Tranny gonna take a #$%^ pretty quick . I am not interested in spending $2,500 right now

And please don't say it.......You spray,,,,you pay

Is my Converter Totally AWEFUL for nitorus????????????????????? Is it so bad that I need ot change to a smaller stall? If so what stall? Then my car won't be as good NA either.

Most will agree that spraying through the shift is worse. Tears up the clutches and band. There is currently a 5 page post on it, u probly already been through it. Here's the link: https://ls1tech.com/forums/nitrous-oxide/16177-nitrous-a4-spray-through-shifts-ok.html

I havn't read it yet so I don't know if it is all good info or a flame war yet.

The SS4000 is a very good converter on the nitrous. I ran one a few years ago in my SS convertible. Ran 10.60s on the spray.
