NO!,,,not Absolutley........................You can live without it. It purges the air from the nitrous line so there si fresh nitorus in the line when you hit the spray,,,it also can be used to lower bottle pressure if it is too high.

Most get it for 1/2 functional,,and 1/2 for the fun of it.

The whole purpose of the purge years ago, was for pro bracket drag racers on the track, where every 100ths of a sec counts. It's used to get the access air out of the lines so when the racer launches there would be no air, so as to give you a consistant run every time. These days purges are used for show, to help reduce bottle pressure, and still to get a consistant run for those racing on the track... And to answer your ???? no a purge is not necessary...

This is how I feel. You can get away with out a purge better on a dry system than a wet system. Here is why.On a wet system the fuel is always flowing. When you first hit the system the fuel is there and if you do not have a purge you have air and no nitrous. This will cause the car to bog and fall on its face.Costing you time,Hp and worse, possibly a nitrous backfire.
The purge is also used to purge down bottle pressure if to high and make a good show for everyone.
I personally feel the purge is absulutly necessary.Even though it can be done with out.

you can always just blip the nitrous in neutral to clear out the car after the burnout and it'll purge teh system w/o anyone knowing
