Default Spraying into 5th gear?

Is it safe? If not, why?

I've heard that you go lean spraying in 5th? I dont think thats true.

Is it the gear ratio for 5th gear?

Iam having to spray 5th at the track with no ill effects as of yet. It kills mph and e.t. but my car is setup for short burst to 115mph (top of 4th) on the street from a low roll.

Maybe you should go to a 3.73 or 3.90 rear gear set to prevent shifting to 5th.

I have been debating about a gear swap. If I was bent on getting a nice time slip with a good mph on DR's I would go with some 3.90's but I am having sooo much fun with the 4.xx's on the street n/a and the nitrous with those gears are to much of a rush.

You have a tr224 cam why don't you raise the limiter?

I'm mainly talking about highway runs. I'm talking about spraying well into 5th gear, 120+mph.

Is this bad?

Well my oppinion is, if your spraying it that long its more than likely going to go fat due to the amount of time your spraying the motor as the bottle pressure falls off.. The reason why most have said that, is due to extreme cylinder pressure.. I think thats due to stock head bolts and gaskets, since the cylinder pressure is going to be extremely high due to working against geared advantage.. I have seen many due this no problem but I have also seen a few head gaskets pop when spraying in 5th, and 6th gear prob wouldent be a really good idea on a stock motor.. Just my .02

Your gears come into play here. You can get away with spraying 5th pretty easy if you are running 4.30's= 3.18's in 5th or even better 4.56's=3.37's in 5th.

Spraying and staying in it with 4.10's=3.03's in 5th could be risky.
