Default How much timing to pull w/a 200shot

My a/f ratio is around 13:1 on my na tune. Do you guys think that's ok? How much timing should I pull out for the 200 shot? I'm using nitrous dave's plumbed intake wet shot system. I've got -15cc dished diamond pistons w/an extra coating for boosted applications. I'm just trying to figure some things out and get my car running more reliably and consistently. Seems like I keep having little problems here and there and am trying to get it all sorted out. Thanks a bunch!--Andy

That seems pretty lean for a WOT. Your going to want something in the low 12s to high 11's, and with nitrous, its usually a good rule of thumb to pull 2 degrees per 50hp added. Is this your first time spraying? Stock motor? i would start at about 75-100 if this is your first time, and on a stock motor, and work your way up. What kit did you get? What jets did it come with?

All of the questions you just asked were answered in my original post. But no, this isn't my first time spraying, it's just the first time I've sprayed this much. No, I don't have a stock motor, it's an 8.8:1 CR 408ci. And as stated above, it's a nitrous dave's plumbed intake setup (a hidden setup). I appreciate the advice though. I've heard it's best to pull 2-4 degrees of timing out per 50shot, but I've also heard that that's w/a stock motor. So I was wondering since I've got a low compression built motor, if that same rule still applies.

A safe rule of thumb with good race gas is to pull out 1.5-2 degrees for every 50hp increase.

How do you guys go about changing your timing? What's the easiest way to do it. Right now, the only way I have to do it is using my shops HP tuner, I know there's a simpler way of doing it. Can someone let me know, Thanks--Andy

I flash a program in with ls1edit. No other way to adjust timing then to mess with tricking the iat sensor, or using the timing tricker box. It really depends on your setup and the fuel you run. On regular pump gas 91 octane I run 28 degrees with a static compression of 11.1-1 for a 100 nx shot. For 200 I believe it was 25 degrees with 113 leaded gas, and 250 was 22 degrees with 113 leaded. The a/f was 11.3-11.8 on all systems. Best way to know is to play around at the track and log your runs. I use a wideband o2 logger also.

I like using the MDS Multi-Step Retard. You set it up so the timing only gets pulled out when you turn on the nitrous solenoid(s). I have a 2-stage setup with the NOS Progressive Controller, so I have it pull out 2 degrees on the 1st stage (50HP), and 2 degrees on the 2nd stage (75HP), plus another 1 degree when the rpm is above 5000.

It's good to start out conservative and get tuned, then finetune as you gain experience with your setup and performance. I like the NOS recommendation also of 2degrees per 50HP as a start.
