Default what do i need to run 150 shot on stock setup

i have a 98 z28, stock motor, and i run a 100 shot NX wet kit right now. It works perfect with just a 100, but it doesn't like 150. any ideas? thanks

Get yourself a fuel pump and you should be good to go. You may need to cut back your timing alittle too.

How was the car acting when you tried the 150?

well i've tried it a couple of times and most of the time it just acts like it can't get it out the exhuast but one time it back fired and blew my air box lid off and shot a flame out of my cowl hood over the windshield. i pulled the plugs after that and cyclinder 5's plug was gone, but they were old junk plugs anyway. what brand of fuel pump should i get and what lph should it flow?

What kind of plugs were you running when it blew the flames? If you didnt have cold plugs gapped arouind .035, that could have been part of the problem. Also what RPM were you spraying at and what was bottle PSI?

well i bought the car used and i didn't know it at the time but it had champion plugs in cyclinders 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 and it had the factory delco's in 6 and 8, (i guess they were too lazy to try and get them) with 125,000 miles. it was probably at about 5k when it happened and the bottle was a full pressure 1100psi.

With the Racetronix kit? No, you won't have to do anything to it until you hit 600 ish RWHP. At that time a fuel rail mounted fuel pressure regulator can help push the single pumps kits 650+.

i m planning on going with a 408 stroker, ls6 stage III heads and about a .625 lift cam, with a 200 shot N2O. so i think that will put me around 800hp, what would i need to do to the fuel system for that setup

When you get to that point, your best bet will be to go with a stand alone fuel system for the nitrous set up.

I think the plugs were your problem.

As I have pounded on my chest more than once. If you have a totally stock engine, and try to run 150+ shot you are on borrowed time. You're lucky that you only lost your hood and plugs. Simply put, you went lean. Wet or not. 150 shot you need to have at least NGK-6, a damn good fuel pump (raceX is great and more than enough), and the ability to tune the car (pull timing, richen/lean it out). All these are even more important if you are going to be going with a 408, heads/cam, etc. Unless you want to loose the engine.

I still don't believe that a stand alone fuel system is necessary even if you are doing a 400 shot. If you never run on the street or if you are going to run nitrous only runs, why would use a stand alone system. All that is doing is mixing say 93 octane with 112 (or what ever). Just get the correct fuel pump in the 1st place. Use the 112 (or what ever) in the stock gas tank. Yes they make O2 sensor to use leaded gas in our cars.

Enough. Put in an actual window switch - not only a WOT switch. Read ALL the post. There is a lot of knowledgeable people on this board that will help you any time.
