Default Could someone give me the parts that MUST be upgraded to safely run a wet kit

I tried searching the FAQ, didnt really find what I was looking for.

Id like to run a basic 100 wet shot on my car but I dont want to chance it blowing up. What parts MUST I upgrade so I dont worry about blowing anything up. I just bought 28.8 injectors for my 2000 SS. And this morning I orderd a stage 4 Rock-on transmission. Also this is an A4 w/ a Yank PT4200. (3.42 gears). Eventually ill put heads and cam on the car.

tr6 plugs, fuel pressure safety switch, window switch, nitrous filter, and maybe even a dynotune lean cutoff switch. The most important thing about nitrous is you have to be responsible. If you are some idiot that uses it all the time and has no respect for it then yes, you will blow something up. Nitrous has to be respected as it can screw you if you use it without sense. Always monitor fuel pressure before use and make sure your engine temp and bottle pressure isn't too high or else you will be ! Trust me, I learned the hard way and it cost me a ton of money! Good luck and be careful.

You will need a window switch to set when the nitrous comes on and shuts off. You should use a Fuel pressure Safety switch to shut the nitrous off if your fuel pressure drops to low. You should use a Wide Open Throttle switch to ensure the nitrous doen't come on at part throttle. A Nitous filter is nice to have to keep junk out of the noids. I'd use a fuel pressure gauge mounted on the end of the fuel rail to monitor fuel pressure at the rails. Larger injectors won't hurt but aren't really needed with a 150 shot or below. An aftermarket fuel pump for shots of 150 or bigger is just insurance. Oh and a good nitrous tune is helpfull also. I think that's about it.

Your will need a quality system to start with. Then it depends on budget.
I will do most important to least. base on 100hp kit.
Window switch- only allows system to work between set rpm range. Low and high.
FPSS- fuel pump or pressure falls off it shut the system down.
Fully automatic heater- keeps nitrous pressure in that sweet spot.
NHRA pop off and tube- keeps nitrous out of the car in case of disc rupture
Nitrous and Fuel gauges- to keep an eye on things.

For ultimate protection- add a wide band with lean or rich cut off ability. Think of this as the final check point for a complete safe set up.

I left off wot switch and nitrous filters, those should be in your kit to start with.

What about internals? Are stock pistons/rods etc able to handle a 100wet shot?

yes they will hold no problem with a 100 shot. Like ZL1SS said just dont be stupid and moniter your set-up make shure everything is working and you have good fuel flow (no clogged lines or something) the only downside with a wet kit is that if the fuel is disrupted your only putting nitrous in the motor and you will lean out so my advice is just make shure anything to do with your fuel is top notch. Good luck and be smart

Will the stock internals still be okay on the 100 shot if the engine is already pushing 390 to 420 at the wheels? This is a great thread, thanks for all of the info.

Yes, as long as your tune is good (timing pulled if timing was added) and your fuels system is capable of supporting the power.

That's exactly where I'm at. Looks like we're good to go.

As long as this hurricane doesn't blow me out this weekend, install should be done with some test runs

I went simple and cheap....NX EFI Stage 1 single nozzle kit. All I want is a little kick to get me to the low 11's.

Too much and I will need more $ to replace broken ****, like clutch, ring and pinion, posi, etc...

I don't have much faith in my 12 bolt.....sadly.
