Talking Cam Only M6 Car - 200 Shot?

I'm guessing most will jump the gun and yell "NUTS!", but over the winter I'll be going the Nitrous route on my MS3 car.

That being said - is a 200 shot crazy? I will of course be full bolt on at that point and with an upgraded fuel system. Jeff Creech @ CAM handles the tune, and I'll be spraying only a few times on the weekends.

100% stock 1998 LS1 bottom end with 60k on the clock, I will be using Katech rod bolts and twisting the motor to 7000rpms.

Opinions, thoughts, recommendations or estimations of the experience are all very much appreciated, guys. I'm relatively new to the nitrous world, but I will be using all the safety features available to try and keep this as safe as possible.

One member here... trmn8r (spelling) He sprays 200 with an MS3 if I'm not mistaken. His car flat out screams. I'm wondering how much a SI LS1 can take. I'm installing MS3 pretty soon, and plan on spraying it later.

We did it with Sams WS6 for about a full year and all is still good to go.. oh and when we added LPE heads and FM13 cam, it put down 440rwhp na & 550 with the gas, had to back it down to a 125hp BC of fuel system... Thank god for the milk man..

I spray my MS3 with about a 225 shot at the crank (2 stage). The thing goes pretty good and still has plenty left in it.

Thank you all for the positive responses!

In case it matters, I'm looking at the TNT F2 Kit and will likely be ordering shortly.

Any further accounts/opinions are appreciated! I feel alot better about the decision already.

If your tune is dead on then you should be ok. Just remember that you're playing with fire, so be prepared to buy a new shortblock if something goes wrong.

GM Muscle... My bad man! I totally forgot you sprayed w/ the MS3. I don't know how, seeing how I'm blown away by your car. My buddy has a nearly stock '99 with the 2.73s in it. Sorry man.

What do you have for an upgraded fuel system? I think with a stand alone fuel system it will be ok for a while until you twist your stock rods in half. But off the fuel rail I think you will take out a piston/burn valves.

Here is a link to a car with stock short block, hitting it with 250. We did hit it with 200 all year, including a few steet passes.

This would be my assumption with nitrous in any size shot, but especially so with a 200.

What do you suggest? Car is using stock FS now (NA), but the fuel upgrade will come at the same time as the spray install.

Ya, my buddy has a '98 Z with a 255 pump and 30 pound injectors and he sprays a 250 shot on the street...h/c car, it pulls like hell through third and up but before that it just likes to provide a nice smoke show! He has been spraying that for probably 6 months, he wants a 408 so I think he planned on just trying to pop the stock motor, but all he has popped so far is head gaskets.

Wet or dry? Am I going to have continual head gasket issues with a 200 wet kit?

You should not be lifting heads at a 200 shot. Deffinatly get a good fuel system though. If you don't do a stand alone set up, look at a racetronix kit, or a Walbro with a hot wire kit, relocate the fuel pressure regulator to the rails to help keep the initial lean spike to a minimium, possibly new rails of you have the money to spend. If your adding any kind of dry set up with that cam you will need injectors. A dry 30-40 shot maxxed out my 26.6lbs injectors with the MS3, I'm running FMS 42lbs injectors now.

If it's anything like mine just be sure to have some money saved up for the repair bill. MS3 on a 114* with Patriot heads a dual 175 burned my #7 piston. replaced the bottom end bumped to a 225 and blew the passanger side head gasket. running 175 - 200 now and runs fine. Have racetronics fuel pump and 42lb injectors
I'm not trying to bring your hopes down, you just have to pay to play. However mine starts at 3k sprays to 6800 through all shifts.
