Default How much power are you making on stock pistons?

How much power are you guys making on stock pistons with your spray? What type of shot are you using and how big? What's the rest of your setup?

I'm putting together an h/c package with 5.3 heads (milled .005 for cleanup) and something around and F13ish cam (230/232) with a .042 head gasket. I'll be running stock pistons and I want to know if I can safely put some spray on this, I'm thinking probably 100 shot the most? I like the dry halo kit but I'm really just looking for input at this point. I'll also be doing my own tuning via HP Tuners along with some experienced help.

I need to know what the stock pistons will take.

Good info to know. It gives me a little assurance that I can do the same and not have to worry about the motor going "boom." Thanks for posting the question, and thanks for the responses.

Thanks for the responses. I'd also like to know what heat range spark plugs everyone is using? I'd be driving n/a 98% of the time and spraying no more than a 100 shot when I do. Is it necessary to use colder plugs?

Nope I couldn't tell a difference from TR55s to them, or from stock to the TR6s. For my 125 dry shot 9made 101rwhp 155rwtq) I gap them @ .038.

I am running well over 500rwhp & 500rwtq with the NOS 5177 kit using the .047 jets (175 flywheel shot) which has the noid(s) flowing the most it can. I have a cam (small) only setup and all the bolt-on's. I also run the TR6's gapped at .34 and just checked them the other day..........they looked great!

If going progressive or multi stage, a 200hp shot is doable. Just make sure everything tune wise is right on, start small and work your way up. I have blasted mine with a 200hp hit in dual stage, and no problemos. Good luck, and check out our PRO Dry kit, not a better dry kit on the market. If you have any specific questions on chosing a dry kit let me know, I would be glad to help.

I just order a NX "IceMan" noid and the NX FJO progressive so I can hit it with a 200shot. I plan 50% at 3000rpm then ramp it up by RPM. The reason I am replacing the NOS powershot noids is that I have read that the plunger style noids are not good to pulse. But they might come in handy for a 2nd stage!

Fuel and tuning is the trick for 150shots and up from reading treads & answers by guys like Robert56 & GMmuscle ect.......

Thanks to guys like that it is now harder to walk since my ***** have gotten bigger LOL

Red Fury, you can always use your Powershot noids for purging, dual stage or sell them. I would like to try the FJO progressive one day. Let us know how it works out.

Thanks for all the help everyone. You're all really making me want to spend more money now, lol.

My other concern is about the compression. With the 5.3 heads (with a cleanup mill or .005) I'm looking at about 11.3-11.4 static compression and about 8.7 DCR, all of this according to the "quick and dirty VE calculator." What are everyone's thoughts on this issue?

Three, thanks for the tip, I found the article on their website.

I will tell ya that I have been running a 230 hp shot of NX on a stock bottom end; with no tunning other than turning off the emissions. I have used both with the FJO controler and in a two stage set up.
