Default Solenoid "ON" status LED

So what kind of solenoid on/off status indcator would you suggest? I though about hanging a LED off the solenoid relay letting me know when the relay is passing current to the solenoids?

I've actually bought a whole mess of LEDs & resistors
with the plan to put arm/opener, enable, and solenoids
status lights into my dash bezel. Simple enough. You
probably want to add a good snubber diode to the coils
though, because I don't think LEDs like reverse breakdown
much. A cheapo 12V bulb would be a tad simpler, cheaper,
tougher; find them in colored lens assemblies at any
AutoZone type store.

Here's what I have. The two green lights are my 1st and 2nd stage rpm activated noid lights. You can either use them with noids plugged in, or without noids plugged in for checking ws activation per rpm. I don't have the 3rd stage light in yet. The orange light is my second stg power light.

I thought I recalled seeing your switch panel had these...

Robert, I like that panel.
I really like having the idiot light for solenoid power escpesially when running a FPSS. I can save lots of time when de-bugging.

1N4006 or equiv diode like this ?

Right, a back-diode across the coil to snub any swing
below ground. Also you would want a series resistor in
the LED - Pin30 leg to limit current, value based on
running about half the rated LED forward current.

yea I should have added that earlier (done) ...220-330 ohms ought to do it for my led's current rating...thanks

That's exactly why I did this. Trouble shooting is much, much easier now, and I have a very complicated system, so now i can pin point many things instantly.
