Default Need your help.....

Ok guys, coming to you for some help. I am a newbie at the Nitrous game and would like to purchase a nitrous kit with all the options. Who/where would be the best bet to look into pricing? I seem to remember a major manufacturer (COMP or NX maybe?) who made a C5 specific kit with a plate for the ashtray area and a custom bottle mounting bracket for the center storage compartment in the rear.

The car is a basically stock 98 A4 so I'll be limiting the shot to 100-125 hp on a progrssive controller and pulling out some HP before the shift points to try and save the tranny as long as possible. I am more worried about the possibility of fuel puddling in the intake with a wet kit. Do you guys recommend the t-body style plate kit or the MAF coupler version? Couldn't I just jet-down a direct-port system and keep the ancillary benefits of no puddling risk, better atomization, even shot to each cylinder, etc.? Is a dry shot the way to go with this relatively smaller amount of HP shot? Any help or advice is GREATLY appreciated!!

Yes you can run a 100 shot DP. Dry also works very well, and from the Vette standpoint Robert56 has loads of info w/ detailed pics etc he could share, as well as he is a sponsor.
I would prefer to use the Plate kit, then MAF, then any other single/dual nozzle. Thats me. The best to shop for prices-----------------------------> sponsors listed on the side there. Your most Customer Service availability on the board would be, CF, Dynotune, HSW, Nitrous Daves Outlet, they seem to be very active in the boards info and help etc... Nitrous Daves carries their own plate kit, switch panels, as well as 860 Performance Products for the trick bottle mounts, bottle heater mounts etc, and then FJO Products like Progressive Controller, Digital Window Switches and the likes. HSW also carries their own line of Pro Controllers, WS, etc.. Have fun shopping, and if you need more advice or help, check out the FAQ's Sticky up top, with links to good info articles like Colonels Nitrous Files etc..

I am my way to bed, but check out my personal web site for pics, and info in the links section. Here is our vette kits, with a plate kit coming real soon. We also have a trick aluminum bottle brkt. My vote is a dry shot, and I can elaborate on later. We also carry DP plug and play kits with no drilling/tapping. Do a search on my user name for threads started, you'll see the PRO Dry intro thread, and others.

Check out my install on a stock 99 C-5
https://ls1tech.com/forums/nitrous-oxide/502608-vinny-does-yet-another-dave-plate-beers-install.html

Thats Nitro Dave's plate combined with a dry DynoTune system. We are still tweaking the Dry sytem (nozzle position and type I learned are important, just spraying into the lid may not get you a safe AFR...), the AFR is a bit lean on dry only (12.5), hoping a nozzle change will resolve it. Daves Plate is working great!

A dry kit will work fine. However if airfuel changes need to be made you will need the capability of computer tunning. With a wet system you can make the changes by swaping out jets. I have used both through out my years in this buisness. A properly tuned and desighned wet system will produce better performance gains and torque with out the possibillity of fuel puddling....

With todays desighns I just can not see fuel puddling as a possibilty unless its a poorly desighned system or way rich tune up.

You can run a directport system for a 100 shot with no problems. However I feel it is over kill and added cost that is not needed unless you just want the cool look.

If you do lean towards a dry system we carry many to choose from. WE carry our single nozzle, and dual nozzle system. We carry the NOS 05177 system and the Zex system..

I do not want this post to turn into one of those wet VS dry Threads or puddling myth treads so THis is all I have to share. If I can help ain any way please hit me up through a pm.
Thanks
Dave

Well I have a little different experiance with the dry hits, mostly it's nozzle placement for correct a/f. This is why our PRO Dry kit, which was spec'ed for the C5/lsx platform, uses the 90* stainless steel nozzles, a very good safe a/f can be had. The NOS 5177, which I do run on my car, comes with the straight aluminum nozzles designed for stock f-body air boxes, but does work on stock c5 boxes, it does have a tendency to run lean. There is not much you can do with the straight nozzles, except replace with 90*'s or go into the tune.
We sell many-many PRO Dry kits to the vette guys, and I now run the 90* nozzles on my 5177 for a perfect a/f. We have all the locations mapped out for any after market cold air intake on the c5, and stock air box. Our kit comes complete with the gauge, NHRA blow down kit (tube and valve), Fuel press safety sw, wide open throttle sw (standard in the market, and no need for expensive tps) and all parts/wiring needed for a complete install. We rec a ws and carry a couple different ones, also a step colder plug is rec. This kit can later be upgraded with fuel pump and injectors for upto 300+hp. We have a customer right now that is going without any jets, and with the 400hp Pro noid, we don't know the limit of this kit yet. So if you want the safest, easiest to install and the best quality at a price that can't be beat (check all that's included compared to piece meal kits) then the PRO Dry is the way to go. We also have an install DVD and all the before, during and after tech you may need. No matter who/what kit you buy, as long as it's a site vendor you'll be covered. Happy spraying.
Robert
