Default LS1 newcomer

Hey guys. I am new to the LS1 world. For the last few years I have been dealing with a 71 vega with a 406. I recently sold it and now am looking at an LS1 car. There is one I am particularly looking at and seems like it has pretty good hardware to go fairly fast already. I know that the drivelines are the weak part of these cars. This car has a fairly well built 4l60e and a 9". It also has all forged internals, cartek heads, and an H cam. I am wondering if there are any weak links in this setup that I am overlooking? Thanks for the advice.

The reason I am posting in the nitrous section is because the car has a nitrous system on it and I would like to spray it with at least 150, but more likely 200.

Many people upgrade the fuel pump, injectors, and swap to a th400.

As long as you keep the fuel supplied they will make the power.
At that point it's the transmissions that usually give up.

It has 36# injectors and an upgraded pump. I thought that 36# sounded a little small, may upgrade those pretty quickly. The guy says the trans was built to hold up to 750hp. So that will do for a while. I would like to keep the OD but a TH400 wouldnt be all bad. Maybe a 4l80E...

It has 36# injectors? I thought most LS1's came with 26-28# factory (I may be mistaken). If not, those should hold up fine.

That trans will not live long hitting juice from a stop, trust me. Are there the exceptions, yep, but the norm is that trans will puke the 3-4 will slip or worse. The 9" will handle it, the forged bottom should handle it if it was assembled worth a crap.
What fuel pump? 36# will get some decent dry nitrous flowing, not a helluva lot, but good for 150shots, or should be.

WFOSS, yes the 99-00 had 26.6lb, and the 99, 01-02 had the 28.8lbs.

Welcome! I had a 77 V8 Monza, man did I get some looks in that car. The LS1 car your looking @ sounds very nice, its soooo much better to get a car that someone's already dumped a lot of money in as long as they did a good job.

I always got looks in my vega. It was pretty intimidating, not a whole lot of people wanted to race... Funny thing is that it wasnt all that fast and pretty mild. Just a high 11 second car on the motor.

That was the plan, to let someone else spend all the money on parts...

I was wrong about the fuel pump, it is stock but it comes with a boost-a-pump, uninstalled. I kind of understand these things, but are they really worth a damn?

You fuel system needs have a independent system, other then that it sounds good.
