Venom nitrous kit????
Ok, newb here. I have an 02 SS A4 w/3.23's, 3600 Yank, sticky Mickey DR's, Mac midlengths and ORY with normal bolt ons. i am looking to tame a certain snake around here and want to spray safely. I came across some Venom kits that really interest me. For 1100 bucks i can get the vcn-2000 thats all computer controlled. I dont really know **** about nitrous, hence whichever kit i go with i want to be safe. I have a hot tune by wait4meperformance and the tuner there said that if i spray a dry kit, my computer will automatically put more fuel and retard the timing...is this true?? it seems with the venom that it is extremely safe and i can program the window switch and that it monitors air/fuel ratio and all that good stuff. please help me out and let me know what is a good safe kit (wet or dry) thanks

yes, the pcm will/can adjust for dry nitrous. I havent any personal experience with the Venom kit, but looking thru the last few years worth of Nitrous Lists, I dont see anyone registered on there using it either? Maybe due to lack upgradability, flexibility, or ? I dont know, but that to me would be a red flag. Luckily you seen the flag and are asking the questions. There is a similar thread, on the first page in here, where 94z28l asks if he has everything planned out correctly..(I think thats who asked it). NEWay, Dynotune chimed in with a package deal and I believe Nitrous Dave, and Robert56. My recommendation would be get something where your comfortable with the product and the customer service. There are some great sponsor/vendors in here and have loads of experience and knowledge. GL

ok, i like what mike put together. instead of listening to the guys at work i would appreciate a package deal that has EVERYTHING i need to spray safely. I have heard that something like, you shouldnt spray nitrous while the auto tranny is shifting?? is that correct, i cant afford to blow **** up right now if i can somehow prevent it by doing the right kit the right way. i really need to get my learn on and sorry for asking lots of ?'s but i have been using the search button to no avail. thanks guys

A window switch will turn the nitrous on at low rpm setting you select, normally 3000, and shut it off at the high rpm setting you select about 300rpm before your shift, stock would be about 5500rpms.
Other items I would recommend for safety are covered in the link...FPSS (Fuel Pressure Safety Switch) will shut nitrous off if the FP drops below set psi..say 52psi, our system runs 58psi. NHRA Blowoff fitting and tube, if the bottle pressure for any reason gets above 3,000psi, the disc pops, nitrous flows out the fitting into the tube which is vented to the atmosphere rather than inside your car with a huge cloud of freezing cold nitrous oxide! Get some NGK TR6 Plugs, gap according to shot size.

I believe the 2000 also pulses the fuel injectors, I don't know if that "feature" can be turned off or not, me personally, I wouldn't pulse a fuel injector. You can go with a dry kit with all the safety items for a lot less then then the cost of the 2000.

the only venom kit i've seen on a ls1 didn't perform well, lots of problems out of it. i wouldnt' reccomend it ESPECIALLY for that price.
the easiest thing to do would be to just call up harris speed and talk to them about your goals and what you want (saftey and performance). you can then price it out from there. you ask this question on this website you are going to get alot of mixed views on the subject.

ok, thanks so far....so the general concensus is wet or dry? is one safer than the other?....is one more beneficial HP wise? i do appreciate the help and patience guys...and yeah i might just call up one of the sponsors and get a kit and let them handle it from there... and i forgot to add something, so whats the deal with the nitrous when it is 106 degrees out here everyday in the summer. i hear that it wont work properly if it is above 1200 psi or something? WTF? please shed some meaningful light..thanks

its an awesome kit, but im feeling like upgrading to that plate system from harris
id say both wet and dry are quite safe as i havent heard of too many people getting boned by bad solonoids or maf failures. is what your comfortable with and if you plan to just have a nitrous kit or further mod your car, if your looking to do internal mods id do wet, but dry and bolt ons are cool on a stock fuel setup

Well im going back and forth with the supercharger and the nitrous, or just the turbo kit. The supercharger will take more power to run, so I would have the nitrous also. But If I go turbo, then I may not run the juice. So what do you think?
