Which would be the best plugs for a 100-125 shot of the juice. My tuner recommends Autolite 103, said he did not have very good luck with NGK TR-6's. But it seems alot of members are running NGK's. Any help or recommendation would be greatly appreciated. jwcej@msn.com

I will be picking my NGK's up tomorrow for my install. I cant tell you which is better from experience, but it makes feel better that I have seen so much success with them

That's what I thought. But when I spoke to Brian about the plugs. He recommended Autolite 103's. Said that he did not have much success with NGK plugs. On the other hand members on this site seem to use NGK TR-6 plugs regularly with no problems. Thanks for the info.

I have the NGK's I was using the 55's before the gas and I put the 6's in for the nitrous. I have had no problems, most of my friends with an LS1 use the NGK's but a good friend of mine has a stroker LT1 and he doesnt like them he has to use the Autolites.

I ran two sets of TR-6's Last year. One set of TR6IX's

Great success with all of them. Up to a 200 shot on a 5.3L. put about 6000miles on one set. Changed before a dyno session.

The TR6IX's are in a 2004 Sierra on a 125 hit and working excellent as well.

Currently on TR6's again wityh my new 370. No Nitrous yet but the plugs are great.

i used TR6's

i'm using 103's now. i fugired i would try them both out. and the NGK's come with a 6 month warranty, the 103's come with a 2 year warranty. dont know how that equates into how often you need to change them, but i dont change mine near often enough cuz its such a pita with stock manifolds. no problems with either one. gapped at .38 on my LT1 with a 120 shot, soon to move up to 150

I just installed the NGK TR-6 today. Going to give them a try. Having a hard time finding the Autolite 103's. Walmart did sell them and when I went back to purchase them they were all gone. I don't know if they were going to quit selling them or what. Advance Auto only had the Autolite AR-103's.

The AR-103's are the race versions with the short ground strap. Good for larger shots, but not as street friendly. I run the the regular 103's and prefer them over the TR6's.

When I can find a set I'm going to purchase them. But for now I installed a set of the TR-6's. Which was a pain in the A** and thanks for the info on the AR-103's I didn't know that..

i ran tr6's in my car for over 30k miles, on a 125 shot, 300+ bottles through the car with NO problems.... that should tell you a little about the plug....

TR6's...but I thought the Autolite 104's were the same heat range as them, not the 103's. Am I just wrong?

The autolites were discussed in the sticky at the top of the page. Opinion is that the 104's are 1/2 step colder than TR-55's and the 103's are 1.5 steps colder. Apparently spark plug heat ranges are not universal for all aplications among the differen't brands..

Now you got me trying to remember which ones I put it? I think they are 104's for the 150 shot I have.

I read the post above and was set on purchasing a set of NGK TR-6. Until I spoke with the person that programmed my car. And he recommened the Autolite 103's as I mentioned above. I will install a set as soon as I can find them. But for now I installed a set of TR-6's. It's just a pain in the A** to install them.

I would just leave the NGK's in until it's time to change plugs again. There won't be much if any difference between the 103's and the TR-6's. I think your tuner just meant he liked 103's better. The plugs are a pita to change and you won't gain anything by doing so.

That's what I was planning on doing. I just want to find a set to have on hand. I'm in no big hurry to change them right now anyway. A pain in the a** to install.

Heat Range: 6
Gap: .035 - .038
Plug: NGK TR6 (stock number 4177); NGK TR6IX (stock number 3689); Autolite 103; Denso IT-20 (stock number 5326)

I just noticed that the gap on the chart above shows the gap at .035-.038. And I gapped mine at .040 just like my tuner requested. With only running a 100 shot will this hurt anything?
