It should work fine. Too much power rarely kills speakers, it's often too little power that causes things to melt down (from clipping).
Which one do you have? I see a dual voice coil with two 4 ohm coils and a dual voice coil with dual 2 ohm coils. http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...odel=SWR-1042D http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...odel=SWR-1022D
Either way, Alpine gives the following specs:
Power Handling Capacity (RMS): 500W
Power Handling Capacity (Peak): 1500W
This amp will do 200x2 into 2 ohms (400 total) which will be fine with that sub. Or it will do 100 x 2 into 4 ohms if you have the dual 4 ohm sub. That's likely to still be sufficient to drive that sub to signifigant volume levels. Either way, I suspect you'll be just fine.
Hopefully you have the dual 2 ohm version, it would be ideal for this amp and the dual 4 ohm will be still be very good with it, but if I were buying the sub to match the amp, I'd buy the dual 2 ohm version.
