Default New guy in the house.......GTO

Well new to this particular regional forum. Been living here for 32 years.

5 days or so playing with the car here and there but the camshaft install is done and the car runs.

Doing the valve springs kinda sucks without the best tool. Replacing the Timing Chain was not fun. People say the pickup tube bolt is difficult? that was easy. Getting the pan to drop down even with all the bolts out even a 1/4 inch sucked. The Pick up bolt was super easy. I am used to working with finger tips in blind places though.

Getting the balancer back on sucked but with enough heat I was able to get it back on there. My Snap On balancer installer is not compatible with LS motors so that was an unneeded suprise.
Had to get it on there half way and use the old bolt to draw it up the rest of the way.

I am very suprised at how quiet the valvetrain is. I expected much worse.

Car has the idle stalls when coming to a stop unless you catch it.

Should be in for a tune here pretty soon when Wong"s Performance schedule allows and I am super excited to see what they can do with it and what kind of gains are there.

Might see some of you guys out there on the street someday.

Welcome and nice car. If I ever get back to work again, an 05-06 GTO is on the list.

Thanks guys.

Yeah I have driven it about a 100 miles just to burn the 89 octane out of it.

It is not fun to drive anywhere other then the highway right now. The thing refuses to idle when coming to a stop.

Glad you got that cam in. The swap is pretty easy on these cars.
What cam did you end up going with?

You know, for as many years as all the different car guys have been going there now, I still haven't been. Maybe one of these years I will get off my *** and head down there.

Is that with the stock heads then? If so, that's damn impressive. I bet it's fun as hell to drive in this cold weather, too bad most of the streets are wet though.
