craigslist in the Southdakota/ Nebraska Region usually has some decent items. Recent saw LPP lt's for $250 stainless steel, and a FULL SLP lt's, and true duals for $500 used.
Great buys if you dont mind the "used" label

that looks like the same exact car I almost bought before i bought my SS. The stealership dude took me for a test drive and that sucker was pretty damn fast. Here's a youtube clip of it back in the day day.

What is done to it though? I have also heard to be weary of buying a 98 because they are a little different than the 99-02 I don't know why I have heard that though.

It had a 228 cam, rear end, ported heads, lts, street slicks and a tune. We did 130 mph down division on a test drive lol.

the computer and wiring is a little different on the '98s; as far as I've heard you can still tune them and use HP tuners but they are not interchangeable with the later ones.

Yeah the 98's used a slower processor speed in the PCM's and the tuning doesn't have as much capabilities as the later year PCM's (fewer tables to modify etc...). I've heard of guys swapping their 98's to later year PCM's.
