Default Are you properly maintaining your keys?

Okay I thought this was funny and Ellis got a chuckle out of it.

The door lock on my Ranger is not working so I go on line check out what a new lock cost $ 116 x 2 wow for just the parts. So I thinking Mark has taught me enough that at least my life is not in danger when I am around tools. So I pull the door panel, lock does not seem to be hanging up anywhere so I pull the lock. Before I order the parts I take it to a locksmith. Guy gets sideways on me about how poorly I have maintained my key. Look I just bought the truck Mr. Key ****. Then he tells me I should have never bought the truck if the guy did not take care of his key he did not take care of the truck. I explain It was a one owner truck and I have a file full of records, can you fix the lock Mr. key ****.
So I come home tell my wife about my experience she say oh did you take it to so & so. Yes I did. Oh she says he gave me the same lecture.

So tonight I go back to pick up my lock and I had to ask what should I be doing to properly maintain my keys, Mr.Key ****. He explains that you should lubircate the locks every six weeks. Every six weeks I asked. Yes answered Mr. Key **** every six weeks then sold me a 4oz can of lock lube for $ 5.99.

So please guys make sure you are properly maintaining your keys.

I think I just wet myself!!!

I trust he sold you the dry graphite lube. You see, the problem is when the tumblers get dirty. Then they start to stick in place, which tears up the teeth on the key as it forces it's way in. Then you get all those metal shavings in there.....it's kinda like sex with a hooker. Gotta use some lube son.

And always wear a condom when sleeping in your bed of keys...

Man, it's a damn good thing that guy doesn't work on key "fobs". We'd all have to put our fobs on an analyzer and graph the frequencies every 6 weeks to maintain them. That lock smith sounds like a complete tool, oh, I mean key.

Funny story.

And if it don't fit, don't force it... you're probably trying to stuff it in the wrong lock.
