Default Curious Tuning Idea for M6s

I ran across this on HP Tuners site this morning. Interesting idea....anyone got an opinion about if it would work? Might save your tranny or valve train at the track!

"Just got my hp tuner and I was gonna disable cags altogether when i decided it would be better to have it lock me out of 2nd when shifting from third to fourth at redline by changing the enable speed to 65 mph or so. Has anyone done this successfully? I was wondering since it also locks you out of third normally, when i change it is gonna lock me in third and not let me shift? Also, since the max disable throttle position is 100%, is this gonna disable it at wot anyway? I suppose when i let off the gas to shift it should enable it, but I guess it wouldn't work if i powershifted."

If you know how to shift you don't have to work about it

It would be a nice safety feature if it worked as intended... however, what Josh said is true. Besides, parts like a new short throw shifter help to alleviate that problem as well. Since I installed my Pro 5.0 a couple of years ago, I haven't made that kind of mis-shift.

I believe there is more to it where its not just off mph but also load on motor/etc. Would be a nice just incase mod but I don't know that it will work.

I didn't know either, and I agree you SHOULD be able to shift. But I have heard more than 1 story about someone that power shifted into a lower gear & wiped out his valve train, so I thought MAYBE this would be a good safeguard.....if it's doable.

this will not work. The reason is you engage a pin into a channel that goes from 1st to 4th. would hate to see a 4th to 1st shift instead!
