Default Front Brakes on z28

OK need to replace rotors and pads on the Z28. Pretty much narrowed it down to the autozone durastop rotors for 40 a piece and some ceramic pads for 50. Would it be worth it to order a set of Hawks HPS ceramics for 80 instead?

The autozone stuff has warranty which I've found they have always been good about warrantying which is why I'm leaning to the autozone pads.

Any thoughts experiences? I'm looking for decent quality for a daily driver the autocross guys like these rotors but they seem to think the Hawk pads are the shiznit..

Every aftermarket pad I have bought from an Auto Zone type place never lasted over 40k miles. I have bought the better ones cheeper ones you name it. All stop the same to me.

So your saying just go with the cheap ceramic? I'm thinking ceramic because of the low dust on the wheels. There are definately cheaper pads. As long as it stops as good as stock it should be fine.

Durastops dust like crazy. You'll be washing your wheels off every day They do stop well however. I'd either go with the Hawk's or the stock GM pads if it were me.

edit: Oh, you were talking about durastop rotors Truthfully a large percentage of the fbody road racers run these rotors and say they last and resist cracking better than OEM rotors + they're cheap !

Well I guess I'll order some Hawks I was planning on doing it Saturday but I guess it can wait a bit for the Hawks to get here rather than picking up something else locally. Do the hawks last 20k or so with normal driving?

If your not going to race the car etc., paying more for something beyond stock is not worth it IMO.

I bought some front rotors & pads from iRotors here on the board... they look good, and the pads they sent with them (I believe the brand name is Axxis) do a good job of stopping... plus after the first day, there's almost no dust at all.

Yeah I saw those but and wouldn't mind a little bling bling on the car but with it being a driver I'd hate to have one of those crack, not too mention they are a little pricey I need to finish the may cam install and I just dumped 1000 into the truck

They seem to be holding up ok... and I slam on them at the track and haven't shown any signs of cracking yet.

Plus I think it was $200 shipped for the front rotors & pads, so it wasn't too bad of a price.

In my experience a while as long as the rotors don't warp, the rotors are hit and miss...

HMMM that isn't that bad of a price, I'm paying about 120 for the setup I have picked out now... Dammit I wish you wouldn't have told me that I'm sending an email now to see if that price is still good

Well, mine are about 14 months old or so... so I don't know what price they're going for now.
