No one here bought Supercharger Todd's ride, or just that someone is keeping it a secret....

Not me.. I could not bring myself to daily drive that car and get it all dirty.

Which is funny, because I bought another garage queen car anyway.. I just spent a hell of a lot less. See if "Crown Royal IROC" thread if you're not sure what I'm talking about.

I actually considered it too, but the way Todd took care of it it would be hard to almost drive it at all and if I buy a car it has to be DRIVEN!!!! I wouldn't want to take it out of the garage in any weather! I guess there is something in "Overdetailing" your ride and "Trailer Queens (not saying that Todd's ride was trailered to shows, but it is in that kind of condition)... you just can't enjoy what it is meant for.

Well, I agree to an extent. My Formula is for "enjoying it for what it was meant for". My T/A, though.. I'm gonna preserve it. The car is far too rare for me to beat on it, I'd really like to see that there's one still around 10 years from now. It's gonna stay bone stock, and never get modded. And it will probably be so disgustingly clean from top to bottom that it will end up like Todd's car was.

Don't get me wrong... Todd's car was concourse detailed (almost on the edge of obsessive compulsive) and something to be proud of. But, I see that the car has to has some practical use in what it was meant for. For example... I read an article in a car magazine a few years ago about a guy that had taken his original 427 Shelby Cobra to Pebble Beach for the Concourse d' Elegance. He has spent almost $300k in work getting it ready on a car that was already at 95%. Needless to say, he sold his ride after the show, not because it won there, but because it was SO perfect that he couldn't bring himself to drive it anymore after spending that much $$$ in getting it like that. His favorite pastime on the weekends was to take that car out and go for a nice long drive on nice days and he couldn't do that anymore. I just can't have a car like that either if I worry about getting the slightest bit of dirt on it.

I am looking at a 700.00 Old English Ice 800 volvo 240 right now. As a matter of fact I think I saw an empty 40oz in the trunk when I looked at it the first time.

May have been a case that his consignment term was up and it didn't sell. It's probably a tough sell to the casual buyer at that price, you really have to be an enthusiast to appreciate his car.

Not saying that it wasn't worth every penny, because it was... you probably would not find a more pristine F-body anywhere.... it's that most people would pay $10K for a '98 in average shape instead of going for a car like Todd's... because enthusiasts are only a small portion of the owners of these cars.
