Unfortunately it is not the carrier, it is the damn ring and Pinion again!

Great to see everyones winter projects run such great times.
So that was your teal one! God, I really somehow missed a lot of members today! Cool to see you are consistent Steve. Now can you follow the idea of "if it works, don't **** with it," or are you gonna make it faster?

Why are you tearing up the ring & pinion all the time in a 12 bolt? Those should be ok as long as the setup was good... who did the setup on them?

For some reason on Mikes rear end it keeps going away

he blew the Moser setup and Dan has set them up twice. They will be good and then when he launch's it the setup goes away.

12 bolts work great in Automatic car but seem to not be holding up to Stick cars. the shock loads are killing them. Might get away with a pro gear but then you can not drive it on the street.

Hmm, mine has a spool and the 33 spline axles. No issues with it at all yet.

2 reds, 1 yellow, 1 black, and JJKB's
I don't think I ever lined up with Crisisman

Maybe the slip from the rear diff is helping to shear the ring & pinion? Would that even be possible? All I know is with the Detroit Locker, I haven't had any issues with the rear end... I pounded those launches after getting the rear end rebuilt with the locker and 4.10s, and it has held up nicely... it isn't even as loud as it was with the Eaton HD posi I had before.

And you know with a McLeod Twin Disk, ET Streets, and launching at 5k plus I'm not easy on my Moser...

Is there certain dates to get onto the list??? I am hopping for 11's on motor and 10's on the hose if I can find a jet kit(psssss Ellis ). any way just another slow LT1, my best times down south were 7.89 in the 1/8, but the car is currently full of new parts boxes and lots of nitrous goodies so we will see. I am planning on being in the NW from early March to early April.

Dan said he would talk to Moser about it on Monday. Dan has been great! Moser can suck my ***! Oh it is your setup. Bullshit. Twice? At like 400 hp? They suck suck suck. So I got 3300 bucks in this rear and I have to sell it for 1800 shipped.

Sounds like something is moving. If anyone can figure it out, it's Danny.

Maybe the problem is in your suspension. It shuddered pretty bad when I saw you launch. Has anyone looked at your pinion angle (to the driveshaft)? If your car is lowered (like I think I remember) and you don't have an adj torque arm, maybe you are putting a bad strain on the pinion that would make it climb up the ring gear under load.

Or maybe it's wheel hop. That puts a ton of stress on parts. Or the housing flexing for some reason allowing the rign gear / carrier to move. Just a thought.....Ellis / Dan should be able to help you.

Or you could just put a 9" in there & be done with it.....

Car is stock ride hieght, w/ the following suspension stuff: Sphon adjustable tubular torque arm mounted to the chasis, Sphon 1 inch rear sway bary, Sphon Tubular Panhard rod, Tubular LCA's, Sphon extreme duty Chromely DS shortened for the 12 blot and Mcleod twin disk. There are guys running 700 hp through those rears lifting the front tires. I feel Moser is crap. This why, I told them about the first time it broke, they said they would document for future reference, but I had to pay to have it fixed. Ok I do it. It breaks again call them, no record of the first break so they are like well how do we know this is the second break, Then they say oh it is a gear problem the second time, I tell them I used US gear, well it is a setup problem. I said once from you and then from Dan? Well we don't know what to tell you sir, the rearend should handle your cars power. Have some one look at it at your cost.

Hmmm, sounds like you have some NICE parts to control / limit movement, so the suspension shouldn't be it. That torque arm is shorter, and will multiply the load, which could be an issue. But like you said, others are doing it.

IMO (this & $3 and you can get a latte) since they set it up & it broke, then Danny set it up & it broke again, I'm thinking it might be a bad housing. They have been known to come tweaked. Doesn't take much of an allignment problem for 400hp to break ****. I'm surprised Moser hasn't asked you to send it back fro them to look at!

Since you already have Danny & Ellis involved, I wouldn't listen to anything I say. Those 2 have forgotten more about rear ends than I ever knew.....but I feel your pain.

Yeah they are both very good, that is why that is where it is, but I am very disappointed with Moser, the guy on the phone wasn't even nice, I Think I am going to go with a Strange Dana 60 so I don't have to deal with Moser.

Something is defnitely not right if you have all those suspension parts and you're still breaking that rear. Mark has a good idea there, could be the housing... could be something not quite right in drivetrain too. All I know is when I launch, nothing shudders... it just jumps up and runs like a scalded cat. Of course, a scalded cat on a hardwood floor considering my traction problems...

No matter what though, all that should end if you get yourself a 9".
