Default Chevy question and congrats

Although I was unable to talk to most of you due to my own sorting out problems, I want to congratulate Mark on his low 11, and Don on his personal best, as well as Ellis.

Secondly, can someone tell me the local value of an 88 Vette with 75K on the clock. You can assume it is in excellent condition. Also, are there any problem areas to that year? It's an automative with the typical AC etc. Thanks in advance.

Well, I'm not entirely sure what the TPI C4's are going for around here, but I got my '94 LT1 C4 with 83k miles for $9000. But the car isn't in all that great of shape.

Based on that, I'd say a mechanically sound, clean looking '88 with 75k miles would probably go for around $8000-$9000.

I would say less than $8k, Pre-LT1 C4s are a lot cheaper, especially below 1990. But you did get a real good deal on that car Jason, so maybe 8-9k for the right buyer

Yeah, I've seen some of those TPI C4s going for around $5k or so, but those are usually pretty beat... usually got about 120k+ miles on them, and have definitely seen better days. One with 75k miles, good paint that looks nice, interior in good condition, no rust on the undercarriage... I could see $8k or so.

Mine I got a good deal on because it overheated and they had no clue as to why, paint isn't in all that great of shape, and it had a significant oil leak from the intake manifold and rear main seal. So after a little time over at Speed Secrets, it runs good now.

Thanks. That's just the kind of info I was hoping to get.

-Any issues (design flaws or points that wear early) I should look for?

Well, it'll probably have a ton of creaks and rattles... that's just the nature of the C4. Also, check the weather seals... mine are really bad, and it shows when it rains a lot. Damn thing leaks something fierce. Also it has a lot of electronics, digital dash, that sort of thing... so those things can go bad. Luckily, all my electronics seem to be functioning well.

Oh, and Ellis pointed out to me that the wheel bearings tend to go bad on the C4s... something to check for as well.

Engine wise, I don't know what to look for specific to the TPI... don't have any experience with them.

if its got the digital Dash it pretty pricey to get them fixed if there is ever a problem with it. & that was a Major issue with them when they were built.

Had a 86 Vette once & the digital dash was messed up & I think the price was up about 500 to get it fixed.

No. I peddled through the first time because the track was so cold. The following two passes I could not get the thing to shift into third and ended coasting through the traps. I think the nut behind the wheel was loose. I will tighten it and hope for better luck next time. I also bent a few pushrods and had to limp home. Spent most of the day taking off valve covers etc.

How 'bout you? I didn't even see you there.

Thanks. The rattles and leaks would bother me. Sounds like a late model El Camino might be a better bet.

That's flying. Did you increase your nitrous shot?

I may need to consider a power adder. I am not even close to the Top 10 anymore.
