The claim adjuster called me on Friday to let me know they are totalling my truck. I will find out on Monday how much they WANT to give me for it and hopefully next week I'll have a new ride.

Sorry dude. I take it the truck had some pretty good frame damage, no?

What (if anything) have you thought about replacing it with?

I dont know, I cant decide! I want a Silverado SS, but I wouldnt mind having a fast car either. A used vette is ruled out, I'm too big. I wouldnt mind a Mustang, but then I'd get made fun of. I have a tough time working the clutch in an F-body, so I guess I could get an auto, but I havnet driven an auto. I like the GTO's, and the interior is comfy. Acura Integras are sweet too....lol j/k j/k

ok, so I was dealing with the insurance company today and here are some figures:

-original offer of 13,800 for the truck
PLUS:
-tax
-lisence
-loss of use(rental cost, but I didnt get a rental)
-what left on the tabs(4 mo.)
This brought it to 15,2xx for just the truck how it sits, giving me $1000 for a $2300 tranny setup.

I sent her reciepts for the towing and aftermarket parts and got it up to 16,200.
-$415 for towing and the additional for the tranny and components, aprox. $500 more for tranny.

Basicly I told her I wasnt happy with the amount they wanted to give me for the tranny and I even trhough the exhaust reciept in there. I told her I that since my truck had exhaust, and I kwant the next one to, are they going to pay for that too? she basicly said no so I told her what I had ionto the truck total which was about $20,000+ and then said that a check for $18k would satisfy me and it is not my fault that thier "insured driver" pulled out in front of me and why should I suffer the concequences of having to downgrade my vehicle? I also said that the guy has been insured by her company for 30+ years and that I think he has paid them enough money to cover the cost of replacing my vehicle with one equal or better.

She did deny my offer of 18k said and done, but it gives her some #'s to work with. Realisticly Id be happier than a pig in **** if I walked away with a check for $17k. But I still have to pay my truck off, which is $8200. I should be getting a call tomarrow and hope fully we will settle.

Claims adjusters can brely keep up with the current cases let alone try to sluth the net for a "possible" person that may be an insured. That and half can't even run excel without help

Just trying to make sure our amigo doesn't accidentally get screwed......plus, and it seems to be the popular opinion around here, people are getting bitten by what they write on the interweb alllll the time.

I know 99.999999999999999999999999999999% of ins claims adjusters don't have time to eat lunch let alone cruise the web for info, but insurance companies do have investigators and if a claims adjustor thinks something weird is going on, then all bets are off.

My opinion, better safe then sorry.

I'm not too worried about what I have up there now. It doesnt seem like it affects anything other that just telling other peoole whats going on.

anyhow, I'm up to 16,300 on it so far today and I still have some arguments for it. hopefully I'll be able to get it up to $17k+.

Basicly I need $1200 more and I'll settle. From here on it can only get more expensive for them.

Ok, we settled it.

$16,650

plus from the injury settlement I got $500

I wasnt injured but I could use a chiropractic appointment so all in all I got: $17,150 for my truck.

less the loan payoff on it and I have $8,878.57 for a down payment on a new truck or whatever I decide to get, and that is the hard decision..

I'm just glad it is over.

$2500 but I dont have the time to try and strip it out, I have too many other things I need to take care off. And I'd probably only break even on it cosidering all I can sell is the motor(which ticks like a ****** f*cker), the transfer case, rear diff, front diff, and suspension parts thet all have 132k miles on them, bed, most of the interior and thats it.
