Default Would ABS light cause a failed emissions?

Seems like a stupid question, but emission tests can be very stupid. But if I put in a 9inch on a 3 channel car I'm going to get an ABS light, do they look for any lights or just a SES light?

Pretty sure it is only the SES.

Yeah I think so to, but just wanted to check if anyone else had one on when getting checked. I really would like to go with a 9inch instead of a 12 bolt but I loose abs, and the car hasn't been registered since it was new so I have to go through DEQ...

Not a SES... you get an "ABS INOP" light.

LOL I know that, I'm just worried some emissions idiot is going to be like "um you have light sir were not going to be able to pass you" I really don't THINK its an issue, but if it is I might as well order an 12 bolt or S60 because I don't have a good 3 channel 10 bolt, my 98's rear is a 4 channel...

I think the only things they can fail you for are things that wil generate a SES.

I have a 3 channel 10 bolt sitting around still... the carrier is busted in it, and it's a series 2 (2.73) rear end... but I do have one.

Thanks for that, but I have one too it just has a bunch of broken teeth on the ring and pinion I'm looking at about 2 weeks for a 9inch and then I loose my abs. We were going to fix the 10 bolt but the price was just too much for a rear that will be a time bomb....

So why a 9" instead of a 12-bolt?

1. Cheaper
2. Stronger
3. Modular
4. Can replace a set of gears on your bench instead of hunched under a car
5. Can have a spare center chunk ready to go
6. Easier to setup gears
7. Better selection of gear ratios

here anyway, you can't be failed for an abs light. you can however if the brake light is on. rule of thumb is if it's amber, you're ok, but red will fail you.

Yep thats about it, if I lived in TX I could see doing a 12 bolt but here in Portland its a big expense if anything go's wrong with it, plus the 12 bolt was about 500 more than the 9inch I picked up.

Moser housing
Strange center
Trutrac
1350 yoke
pinion support

Basically getting it in pieces but that is going to save me on shipping big time, together it has to go freight, in pieces they send it UPS. All that plus I can choose 3.89 gears for 500 less than a 12 bolt with a soft center section that distorts in high HP with traction.

The only problem is the 3 channel bracks so I may just ditch the ABS and go with a proportioning valve.

You keep saying "5k less"........as in 5 thousand dollars less? Or am I just missing something here? Never seen a $5,000+ rear end.

Not trying to be a smart ***, just looking for clarification.

So what's it cost ya so far? I'm sure I'll be in the market for one sometime in the next year.

It was 2175 shipped. You can get the same setup with a Motorsport housing which really would have been fine, I'm a sucker for the upgrade though

With the ford motorsport housing your looking at only 2050 shipped!!!

I figure I'll have to pay to have the backing plates pressed on and get the bolt on spohn sway bar relocation and the driveshaft u joint setup.

But install shouldn't be that bad, install the housing first then put the center chunk in.
