Default Check out my A/F from the dyno pull.............

I took just the A/F from the dyno graph and focused on that alone. Check out the attached graph and tell me what you think? I don't think that is good. From what I've heard, a lean spike happens with a wet kit. But check out how high it spikes? Kind of scary!! I'm not spraying anymore till I get this figured out.

I think I need to get a hold of TJ again and have him do some major tuning. Is this kind of spike normal for wet kits? That seems like an aweful high lean spike.

I need some major help!! Not the mental kind Ellis

Upgrade your fuel pump yet?

I can all but tell you that Ellis will recommend having your N2O line twice as long as your fuel line.

I have the racetronix fuel pump and have over 60psi of fuel all the time. Ellis also recommended I get a shorter fuel line and longer N20 line. But with that big of a spike for that long, do you honestly think it will make a difference?

I mean........that spike in my inexperienced mind is disaterous! That's why I'm praying for some more experienced inputs.

Ellis's way seems to work really well for him. He has a puff of black smoke when his kit hits. Thats proof its on the rich side.

Russ went to a bigger fuel jet on his kit but he still has a lean spike when it hits.

True..........but the lean spike that Russ's car makes is way way shorter than mine. My spike is more of a curve. Russ's is just that..........a spike.

Hello Jon.

No expert here but I suggest you make the line changes for starters.

Some other suggestions:

Stand alone fuel system or switch over to a return system like Robert has.
Electric boost-a-pump to provide you with more fuel.
Timing tuner to pull back some timing at the top end.

Thanks, Perry

Russ had the same problem as you and then went to the bigger jet and that helped all but the inital spike.

I wouldn't spray that again until you get that fixed.

Make that nitrous line longer like Perry said. I have a stand alone fuel system I will let go crazy cheap, Jon! PM me for my number if you're interested.

The vette takes a special stand alone, and the only one who makes it is Nitro Dave, and he also has one, at my request, for guys running the Vararam. I will be using his Vararam tank for my stand alone system for dry users I am putting together.

Fuel problem, my take, same as last year (remember running 10.x:1 a/f with the same lean condition in the begining), fuel supply problem ie: as Perry said, return and reg at the rails. However, as everyone stated try the line lenghts first, it can help to minimise and sometimes eliminate intitial leaness. But i still say supply can't keep up for a minute then recovers and that's different from a lean spike. Or you could go dry and have no lean spike.

Yeah, but look at my A/F graph closely. Its lean for a long time. Is that normal for a "lean spike"?

mine was huge with the "100 jets"
I jetted up to the 150hp fuel jet
and still have a "spike"

will have ellis make me a longer line next time the car is in

I have a dedicated set-up button that pushes fuel only to the nozzle before I spray. In other words, I purge the air out of my fuel supply. I don't have any hard readings on the effect other than a way to watch for knock but I do have the assurance that gas is ready at the nozzle the moment the nitrous solenoid opens. I always worried about an empty fuel line lagging behind the nitrous.

I would start with fuel line lengths. You may also need a fuel accumulator.

Before we started playing with mine I was getting a 16:1 lean spike. Now I get a 10:1 Rich spike and that is how I like it After the hit she leans up to my normal 11.0 to 11.2 from 4,000 to 7,200

Okay, I'll do that first. What is a fuel accumulator, what does it do, and where can I find one?

Thanks Ellis.

nx makes an accumulator,

it's kind of like a capacitor for a car stereo (but for fuel)
