Default Moving to Washington

Heading up to Kennewick, Washington and would like to make some contacts before pulling into town. I have bought a home up there already and it will close on the 24th. I will be there on the 28th to tie up a few loose ends and get some work done on the house. I need an all new garage door with tracks and motor. Also we are wanting a shed and privacy fence with dog run put in. I am really wanting new carpet, laminate floors and a good professional cleaning all to be done before I drive my family out in mid May. If anyone here is a contractor and can help with any of these projects I will be grateful to meet up when I get there the end of this month. I will be changing my vehicle registration to Washington if the laws there are less stringent then CA. I have my wife, a twelve year old daughter, nearly two year old son and four huskies. Any clubs I should know about for me, my wife and the kids? Also, as a side note I will be up there as a Marine recruiter so if anyone is interested or knows of anyone interested in enlisting in the military let me know and I will give you the real deal. No need to BS anyone, I would like to get a little networking done though to make my life potentially easier. Thanks and please post up to let me know what I should know.

I actually chose WA since I am from CA originally, at least it's west coast. However prices out here are much higher and I know for a fact that in three years I will going back to 29 Palms. School system out there is really good too, I checked into all that and chose my house around the school for my daughter. I figure another three years of grass for the kids and cooler temps for the dogs will be good. Really anywhere other than NC will be a welcome change for us. What kind of emission, license plate and tint laws are up there?

I spent my first 36 years in CA as well and the emission, tint and most other laws are WAY less restrictive here in WA. You CAN tint the front door windows (up to a certain level), emissions is nothing compared to Cali but you still need a front plate. Of all the things, that is the least inconvenient to me.......smog checks seem to vary by County but around here (Snohomish County) they just plug into your computer to make sure it isn't throwing codes and away you go.

Awesome, thanks for the help. Any recommendations of a shop that can drop in, let's say, a built LS7 and get it tuned out right?

I did recruiting for 14 months when I came back in Feb '03. That lasted until April '04 when I made it back to the fleet. Now I'm back out here doing the job for the next three years.

Doesn't have to be Tri-cities, for a project like this I will make the drive to do the right thing.
