Congratulations to Mark and Ellis!!
Can you believe a couple of drag racers could win at a road race?
They did and they did it good! They raced the 120mph Class in the Bonneville 100 in Wendover, Nv. They were only .9 something seconds off Perfect time. They won First Place in their Class, PLUS Best Rookies of the race! So they are coming home with not 1, but 2 Trophy's!
I'm sure they will be here to fill you in on all the details tomorrow night I just thought I'd let you all know that they are still alive and kicking butt

You need to have them take out their little cars that they drive and show them how to race Zeke It might be a slow race, but it will be a race..

I can't imagine the realities of that race but I have heard many accounts of how tough and rough it can be. For you guys to accomplish that in your first time out is absolutely mind-blowing.
Congratulations Mark & Ellis, and have a safe journey back home!

Wow, I'm impressed! Quite an accomplishment!!
I'd like the details and an explanation of the format: What is meant by "120 mph class" -maximum speed? minimum speed? average speed? Is this all-out road course racing?

We did OK
We were in the 160 class. The car was just not running right. We thought it might be too much wing, since we were using a open trailer we took the wing off while towing. When we put it back on we were not sure we got it at the right angle. We knew if anything we put more wing in. We were only able to hit 183 on the south bound leg and averaged 157.2 mph. At the turn around Boyce got out of the car first(being small has its advantages in racing) walked around to my side to help me out. As he walks up he says "we are done for the day" we had a moderate to large puddle of diff lube under the car. After a few moments Boyce says "lets look at this". Turns out that the diff was fine, but the connections to the diff cooler were loose. How this happened we are not quite sure. No one had worked on it and AN connectors don't just come loose. Anyway we borrowed a cresent wrench, Boyce tightened them and we were up and running. Right after we started the return leg we noticed the motor had a real miss above 160. We did manage a 193 on the trip back, but had no acceleration. I had it flat on the floor alot to try and make up time, but something was not right with the motor. We ended up averaging 159.7 on that leg and a over all 158.2 average. This did get us 2nd place. When we got back to Boise we pulled the hood and turns out we were down on power because one of our spark plug wires fell off so we did this on 7 cylinders. So it was an eventful race and we had fun but no big speeds. One guys in a 7 yr old NASCAR did 211 and 218 through the traps. I am sure Boyce will have more to say when he gets back on line.
