Default A new chapter in my life!!!

Not car related, but still REALLY exciting!!! I just put an offer down on my first home. I wish I could have done this years ago, but as a younger buck I wasn't...well....so great w/ my finances. But now I'm making good money and at the ripe age of 28 I'm jumping into my first home

I'm newly married and we have our 13 month old little man so I felt I wanted to get something that I could see us in for years down the line. Financially wise I really wanted to get a "fixer upper" so we could be in it for a few years then turn around and sell, but I didn't want my family living somewhere that we weren't completely happy.

So we went house shopping and looked at well over 30 houses, some pre-owned, and also threw around the idea of having one built. We ended up finding THE HOUSE soon after starting our search. It was nice to find the "the one" so early in our shopping process. That way when we walked into a house, we had something to compare it to.

The winner ended up being a gorgeous 4 bed/2.5 bath home built in 2002. It's inside a gated community up on South hill in Puyallup. My wife fell in love w/ the master bedroom w/ the his&hers walk-in-closets, and I fell in love w/ having a 2 car garage. It has a good sized back yard w/ a jungle-gym for my little guy and a nice size deck for any family/friend functions we'll have in the future. Great thing about it is that our neighbors are of course close (since it's a semi-new developement), but not TOO close. And behind us is a greenbelt, so only forrest to look at out our bedroom window. We should have news on whether or not they accept our offer by this evening. So please everyone keep your fingers crossed!!!

Unfortunately car mods will have to be on the back burner for a little bit because of the difference between rent payments and mortgage payments. But I couldn't think of a better reason to not be modding my car.

Oh yes, and if all goes well, our move in date is 12/20

It is a very good time. If the offer goes through we'll be getting this house for 19k less than it's appraised for.

And oh ya.....renting a uhaul to move into a new house would be the best x-mas gift ever. And since we are moving so close to x-mas (hopefully), now my wife can't drag me into the boonies to cut down an 11 ft x-mas tree like last year haha.

Good move..owning a home of any sort is a good investment...paying rent gets no one anywhere fast.

Hey just curious but did you get any first time home owners grants? I just enrolled in a program in Buffalo NY(where i am moving once im out.) that gets 10k in grants when buying your first home can you believe that ****. Also we can throw those headers on as soon as i gt back but im think your wheels might get stolen if im around them too much they are sooo hot.

Just thought I'd give an update on my first home. Turns out that I did not end up getting the house we initially put the offer on. We tried to do some wheelin' and dealin' and the sellers apparantely weren't having it and said no thanks to our offer. Turns out it was the best thing that could have happened. Just a few weeks later a house that is owned by an military couple who are being relocated fell into our price range. Since it's a buyers market this couple was having an EXTREMELY hard time selling their house for what it is worth and lowered the price into one we could afford. We made an offer, all inspection passed yesterday and everything is good to go and we close on 1/11/07. Here is a picture of our first house (and I got a 3 car garage for the same price I offered on the first house which was only 2 car ).

Needless to say I'm extremely excited. I found our dream home for our first house and I walk in w/ a ton of equity.

Cool deal. Market is definitely becoming a buyers market. Live in it for several years and you'll have some big bucks to put down on your next one.
