Default Want Opinions on CUSTOM paint job -get in here-

Heres the deal. Work at a local shop and want to paint my 1998 Z28. Car has a spot where the clear coat is missing, so I figured why not redo this car. Lookin at doing an ss hood, and wing. So u can include that into ur ideas. I just want something DIFFERENT. At the moment, Im gonna just paint the thing black, unless one of u can change my mind. Car has chrome Zr1's currently and is Silver.

Some pics to give you a idea. And yes I dont mind the "Murdered out" stuff. But it doesn't have the black Zr1's anymore. Bought it that way. Would def. be an option if I go black though.

This will require a custom painter who can play a little and knows what hes doing

Black.
Mid coat pearl in your particular favorite color.
Clear with 15-25% flattener added.

Resulting look will be black satin sheets that tinges to the pearl color you like. Should be a real nice stealth look with a little show car sheen. Not to mention the fact its a hell of a lot easier to keep clean than gloss black. Feel free to shoot the rims the same way..

Funny you mentioned this. We just painted my brothers Tahoe a Hot Hues Hot rod black. Its not flat black, not quiet semi-gloss. Its just right and this was what Im gonna do with it, combine with the gloss black. I also have some black Cherry just layn here that I can use for free, so thats tempting. also, want to do the ss hood scoop in this semi flat black we have. I think it would be pretty nice.

But I like where ur coming from cts-voodoo. Post some pics if you can find some of this black satin w/ pearl.

O, and my painter is one of my best friends, so pretty much any option is open as far as mixin paints.

Well honestly I dont have any shots of it, I did a hotrod once in purple with bright white pearl and flatted it out. Ended up a nice purple satin sheets color... I think the black with some light red pearl and a flat clear would be awesome. A similar paint job is planned for my V to be honest, shiny though.

I had thought about doing my Black 02 Z28 in Mellenium Yellow, with black from the bottom of the windows up, Hood, Sailpanel, Hatch and spoiler, and the piece between the tail lights. Throw on some black wheels and black billet grill! I havent seen that before, thought that would stand out but not too much.

Use the silver as a BC and shoot a nice transparent color coat over it. Maybe a nice blue or purple pearl.

I've always loved that color!! I've thought about doing my TA in that color. I think the WS6 in that color would be pure sex.

You have a beautiful car, bro!!
