Default Sandblasting a intake

Alright I have been reading a lot of write ups on sanding for painting intakes. I have recently purchased a fast intake and would like to repaint it while I have a chance. My work has a small sandblaster that I "could" use, however I do not know if sand blasting plastic is a great idea. I have not ever attempted anything plastic on stainless parts. Let me know if this is a horrible idea, or if i can turn the pressure down and spray far away and save some time sanding or not.

I would think it would create more imperfections then fix, certainly the media can be changed. Most I know hand sand smooth. But I am no expert, I am curious for those who had done it.

yeah i got to thinking about this and i doubt it would do any good. The sand will not smooth out any of the bumps but it would help make a nice surface to apply paint to is all.

if it's already painted it will take the old paint off quickly. I used a bead blaster to remove the old paint off of my LS6 manifold but cleaning it out is a bitch. You can tape all you want it's still getting in there and you have to get every bit of it out.

Are you in a hurry to get it done?? If not just do it by hand but or take it up to a shop and have them do it. But that's just me

we use glass bead for paint prep at work and it works great on steel and stainless. plastic it tends to eat into unless you have the pressure down real low. if you go that route tape really good, especially any sealing surfaces.
