Default buff?

I wanna take the door ding covers off my doors and body but the paint underneath is lighter so it sticks out. Can you just buff it to make it match or do i have to get it paint matched. And how much would it cost to get it paint matched.

basically under the door guards the paint is just going to look darker because it hasent been in the sun. if the rest of the paint isnt faded horribly buffing it should be fine.

honestly i would have a professional do it. personally for something like that i would recommend a rotary with 3m compounds but if you have never used a rotary your going to screw your paint up.

I think you're getting some pretty bad advice here. If the paint is a different color, it is quite possible that the car was repainted at one point, when I removed my side molding it was the exact color.

Also, if you want to buff the car, do not be afraid. It is very hard to "screw up your paint." I suggest using a porter cable with a yellow Lake Country's pad and Menzerna Super Intensive Polish. Then follow up with a white pad and Menzerna FP

It all depends on the color of the car, if his car is white removing the body side moldings WILL show a differance in color. And depending how bad it is a simple buff will not suffice I've had to go as far doing a little wetsanding to make the paint match again on customers car at work. And it is very easy for someone who has no ******* clue what they are doing it to screw up the paint on there car, all it would take is for him to buff a little too hard/much on the edge of a pannel and BAM he's done burned through the paint and he'll have to get it painted.

And he didnt say anything about there being an edge or tape lines where the moldings used to be, if there is then that is case, that his car has been painted and then it will have to be painted to make it match.
