plastic decal removal...???
Good day to all, I bought an old patrol car at an auction that has been somewhat (had) the police logos removed, but not all of them.
does anyone have anysuggestions for pulling off those stripes w/o damaging the paint or me having to carry it to a body shop for 200+$ ???
TIA
i thought about some kinda buffer and doin it in my driveway. can it just be peeled with a straight razor?

nooooooo razor!! it will scratch your paint... use nail polish remover (non acetone very important, do not use any acetone), works great, or 'oops' or 'goof-off' ... rub it over the decal and it will peel up much easier

Nope. It'll probably take off wax though, so you'll have to rewax it. You can use a razor blade too, it won't scratch your paint if you know how to do it. The trick is to cut off the vinyl from the adhesive, rather than the adhesive off of the paint, then use goof off or something to get the adhesive off. I took the graphics of a riced cavalier at the old stealership i worked at doing it that way. Wouldn't reccomend it if you havn't used it before though. I'd agree with everyone though and use a hairdryer or heat gun, then peel it off.

what you do is take a razor blade, hack up the edge pretty good so its really rough and jagged, and then, when you're ready to take of the decal, just start hacking away at it until the whole thing is off............................or you could use some common sense and just head the thing up with a heat gun and peal it off with very little effort and zero damage to the paint......but its up to you
